yeah malaysia owns. super cheap too, and KL is one of the biggest airport hubs on that side of the world so it's cheap to get to. I debated it as well, but I couldn't really think of a valid reason besides the fact that malacca was the tits. vietnam really makes the most sense.

the downside is i have six months to become fluent in vietnamese.

Have you been there? I mean it can be a fun cesspool, but it's pretty crazy. Thailand and the Philippines are two places I'm glad I've been to but I won't go back, especially now that I have kids. Thai food is in my top 3 favorite foods though, so they have that going for them.

you can find cesspools anywhere in SE Asia. having been to Thailand vietnam and Cambodia id say thailand the least of the lot.
