UPDATED THROUGH WEEK 12

Developments:

  • Big games by both Smith and Lafell this week. I'd say the release of Steve Smith is now indefensible, and I used to defend it.
  • Edit: In case you didn't notice, Smith leads the group in receptions and yards per reception. And he's not even the clear-cut #1 receiver on his team. It sure would be nice to have him as our "#2."
  • Cotchery caught just as many TDs on the bye week as has every other week.post-12988-0-92808100-1416938623.png

KB > Smitty

Now, and definitly in future.

Kb woukd not have the opportunity for development with our QB like he has, #1 reps, no vet mentoring if smitty were here. Smith would make it about him and would avoid doing his best to mentor KB so he can still be the man. Money, future, development. The blind emotionally attacbed fan cannot see. Those who get the wide, big picture do understand

# Get those stats smitty. See you in canton

Bingo...There was reason Steve Smith  was released and it wasn't all about him lacking ability. I feel you covered it very throughly.

I can defend smith cut all day. His numbers are practicaly the same as Benjamin but we only had to pay Bryant 1.4 mil. smith would have cost us 7 mil this year and 6 mil next year to cut him.

After my initial meltdown over the loss of my all time fave, I looked at it rationally and financially. It made more sense then but now there is no way we aren't winning the division by 2 or more games with Smitty. He's the one that called the "get your poo together" meeting last year. Anybody called one this year? Not that's been reported.

What garbage weapons we had last year !!!

All we had was Smitty, who's on pace to go for 1,164 this season...

Olsen, who's on pace to go for 1,045...

LaFail, who's on pace to go for 921...

And stud RB's Williams and Stewart and a very solid offensive line and Pro Bowl fullback Mike Tolbert.

We just need to "build around Cam"...

Who's blocking for him again?

Whatever.  We will never know the benefit of having Benjamin and Smith. Smith's experience, fire, savvy and, yes, production may have helped us to at least be in the driver's seat right now for the division

Moreover, We are still paying Smith.  At least we got a tad bit of our money's worth last night.

UPDATED THROUGH WEEK 13

Developments:

  • Benjamin now leads in YPG after quiet game by Smith (but it's requiring a lot of targets.)
  • After another strong game, Lafell has a decent chance of leading in all major categories by the end of the season.
  • Our "red zone specialist" now has 4 games left to avoid having zero TDs for the season.
  • I decided it might be fun to tracks Avant's stats as a Chief independently.post-12988-0-59714400-1417457472.png

Just realized that Avant actually led the Chiefs WR's in his first game with them, but that ain't saying much.

The Chiefs do illustrate rather nicely that a team can have a good season without good WR production (and with a ball-control offense). They are 9-4 this year and have been blown out zero times. I miss Steve Smith bad, but as we all know, we are losing for other reasons.

Getting rid of the cancer named Steve Smith was the best thing for gettlemen. He was a douche in the locker room and would have stunted the growth of the young receivers. He also plays with a fire in him, a fire that had nearly burned out while with the Panthers and only started burning again once he was cut. He wouldn't have done for the Panthers what he is doing for the Ravens, his heart wasn't in it.

Exactly. Glad to see someone that gets it.
