The Conditioning of Star and KK- Is this going to be a longtime issue?

Dude it's not realistic for 2 DTs to play the entire game. You are going to get tired because your basically sprinting at the QB doing everything you can to push thru the line. If you keep them in the entire game they are going to collapse in the 2nd half of the game. Basically, you get alot of 4th quarter loses like back in 2011. The DT's just won't have the energy to push thru the line or run block as well. It is not about the conditioning at all really.

If you ever play hockey or a position like DT you have to constantly rotate because you will get tired. Keep in mind also that a DT is 300+  lbs so they will wear down say compared to a 200lb WR.

Never said they should play the entire game, and I'm not against them rotating.  I just want to see them get the majority of the snaps, if they are our best players at that position.  We have been getting carved up in the running game, and fail to get consistent pressure on the QB.  We need to be doing everything we can to correct the problem, and it starts by having your best guys out there on the field.  Let Star and Short play through some downs before taking them out, not just two and then shuffle.  Now we have deemed Short as our best DT.  As so, he should be getting the majority of the snaps, again following the principal you want your best players on the field.

Didn't star come in to camp much lighter this year? Perhaps that was a poor decision and has made him weak.

I noticed the weight difference . In my opinion it has had an impact on his ability to hold the point of attack. He has to get better at his technique and staying low. I use to think it was amazing that Buckner use to hold the point of attack despite not being a 340 pound lineman.

How long do you think a car engine would last if it's driven at 300 miles an hr all the time.

Incase you're wondering - this is why de Angelo Williams is still on our team.

No one else is going to touch this? It's the start and stop that hurts the engine. Not consistent movement. It's just a poor example to use

Have you considered that DT is just one of those positions where you can't play starters for the majority of the game. They are 300plus pounds. They simply can't hold up say compared to a Wr qb cb safety. A tired star or kK isn't useful if they can't generate a pass rush or stop the run. That is why you don't play them for a majority of the game.

What I'm getting at is I want to see Short, our best DT, get more snaps at that position than anyone else.  I want to see Star follow close behind him.  I'm not saying I want to see them for 30 straight snaps.  As the chart showed us, Dwan gets the majority of the snaps, and that is why he has three sacks.  If KK got as many snaps and as many opportunities as Dwan, dude might have 5 sacks for all we know.  If Star got more opportunity, he may have more sacks or tackles for a loss.  I want to increase their opportunity, being they are our best DTs.  Are they really getting tired after two snaps?  Suh is over 300 pounds, and I don't recall him being taken off the field as much during our game.  Wilfork weighs at least 320, and he's taking more snaps, and so on.  There's no excuse for why these guys shouldn't take more snaps, if they are our best players.  Now if Dwan is better than Star and KK, then good.  Are we in agreement about that?
