Burfict Fined; No Suspension

Black

Recommended Posts

Burfict recently signed a 4 year $20 million extension. So $5 million per year, which means $25K is half of one percent of his yearly earnings.

For perspective, this would be the same as fining the average American (with a median income of $26,695) $133. Basically, they just gave him a parking ticket.

We're not really talking 'first offense' here.

Burfict has already been fined multiple times (four times last season alone according to Florio).

Do you honestly think the NFL cares how many offenses he has?

Their punishment is levied through the court of public opinion. No outcry from the public equals limited punishment.

Full fledged media s*** storm equals stiff penalties.

This is a non story because of reaction by the media and nfl fanbase. Had this been done to a cowboy player or Manning, maybe you would see a different response from the NFL.

Had he done it to Tom Brady, we would have had a rule change this offseason.

'No more tackling by the ankles' or some such.

Yeah and ESPN would have already ran a sports science special, and 3 Outside The Lines specials dedicated to the twist.

Hell, there was ten times more discussion and outrage from ESPN after the Panthers beat the Patriots last year, and the no call pass interference on Luke.

Just how much more of a joke could the NFL be at this point in regards to punishments?

Playing a game of Mike Tyson Punch-Out with your wife in an elevator on video = 2 game suspension.

Clearly deliberately attempting to injure a player = 25k fine, no suspension.

Wearing all black visor clips with UA logos (which no one on this planet even noticed until some dipshit whiny fan contacted the NFL) = 10k fine.

Smoke some marijuana = 1 year suspension.

Yeah, that is simply pathetic..........

I don't ever want to hear the NFL come out with thier BS that they want to protect the safty of the players, after not suspending this douchebag for these dirty tatics that could have put Cam,Greg and Benjamin out for the season. They fine Saints TE Jimmy Graham $50,000 dollars for dunking a football over the goal post but only fine this lowlife $25,000. What the hell is wrong with this picture,I ask you?

I actually find it funny that Bengals fans are making fun of Cam and Olsen. I'm also reading Adam Jones said it was he gets his ankle twisted all the time and does not cry about it. I really thought highly of the Bengal team and the unfair media criticism of Dalton but I never knew they were on the other side of the spectrum.

    • I just switched to prime video with fanduel south. Will I be able to watch the Canes playoff games still?
    • I mean, you can use that "logic," but the problem is that most practice squad players, backups or average guys don't put the play on film that Wharton did when given their opportunities.  Perhaps you'll end up right, but I don't think that just because a guy has been in a rotation makes him inherently less productive because he gets more snaps. I will say that the KC fans I've seen on social media loved him, and considered him their second best DT,  regardless of his "rotational" status, and generally considered him a dawg, so I'm going to give him the benefit of doubt until he shows otherwise.
    • Did I miss something?  The people we have developing players now are not the ones we've had in the past so I don't know what the heck people are talking about when they say we are not good at developing players right now.  We only have one year to go on.  Canales likes young players or players who are on an upward trajectory, especially in FA this year.  Past QB's and what he's done with Bryce are good examples. Tershawn Wharton - 26 Tre'von Moehrig - 25 Pat Jones II - 26 Bobby Brown III - 24 Michael Jackson - 28 Jaycee Horn - 25 Tommy Tremble - 24 We missed on Milton Williams but he's 26. Everyone else we picked up are on 1 year deals.  The Panthers new front office and Canales absolutely scream developmental team. Pick 8 (stay) Tier 1 Elite - Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter and Mason Graham Tier 2 Elite - Jalon Walker, Mykel Williams, Will Johnson Trade down: There are quite a few really good players that fit us at Edge, DT, S and WR mid to late 1st and high 2nd.  Some combos that would be possible that I really like.  Imagine getting 2 of these guys by trading down. Stark, Pierce Jr, Golden, Scourton, Grant, Emmanwori, Ezeiruaku, Umanmielen, Deone Walker, Harmon and this is just off the top of my head.
