PFF's Top Graded QBs so Far?

RotoExperts:

"Without his legs Cam Newton has proven to be nothing but a QB2 option in Fantasy Football. ... In an earlier edition of the OSR Report I suggested planting Newton on your bench until you saw not one, but two consecutive strong performances from him. After seeing him leaving everything on the field in a 37-37 tie on Sunday with 117 rushing yards on career high 17 carries against a stout Bengals defense, it’s time to retract that statement and begin starting him again immediately. ... Newton either ran or threw the football on 63 of the Panthers 80 plays from scrimmage. In his final 10 games Newton faces just two teams that rank in the top half of the league in points allowed to quarterbacks. That’s an absolutely sweet setup. The arrow is definitely pointing up here. After this performance the buy low window is likely closed, but if you can somehow land him via trade you should definitely find yourself in good hands to close out the season."

Not necessarily relating to fantasy but I know Cam can put up QB1 numbers throwing alone. I mean if he has to run so be it but I know he's definitely a very good passer at this point in his career.

Washington Post last week: "Cam Newton looks better every week, and the game charters at Pro Football Focus have noticed, giving him ratings of 0.4, 1.7, 2.1 and 5.4 over his first four games."

Cam again graded 5.4 vs the Bengals.

Yahoo Sports:

"Sunday Scene, Week 6: Cam Newton, off and running.

Cam Newton is still a bad dude, just in case you were wondering. He passed for 284 yards at Cincinnati on Sunday while also delivering the week's fifth-highest rushing total (107). He didn't target himself in the passing game, unfortunately, so we can't quite call him a triple-threat QB. But we can say with relative confidence that Cam is back to being Cam — the upper-tier fantasy weapon with the S on his chest.

Newton passed for a pair of touchdowns against the Bengals, connecting with usual suspects Kelvin Benjamin and Greg Olsen ... Cam also ran all over Cincy, read-optioning them to death, crossing the goal-line on this grown-man carry , with various defenders clinging to him. ... Basically, whatever you needed to see from Cam before trusting him again, you surely saw it on Sunday. Next week, he gets a Green Bay defense that's had very little success stopping anyone's run game

...

The Panthers have an incredibly friendly second half schedule, you'll note, loaded with the weak defenses of the NFC South, plus the Eagles, Vikings and Browns. Newton has an excellent shot to again finish among the top-five players at his position, despite the slow start to his season."

"The Return Of Cam Newton

When Cam Newton is at his best, football is simply so much fun.

...

During the offseason, the discussion was about his potential downfall coming off ankle surgery and having “no” receivers to throw to

...

through the first four weeks, Cam wasn’t great by any means...However, in Week 6, Newton absolutely exploded, thanks to the return of his rushing ability. During his first four games, Cam had 14 total rushes for just over 40 yards. But on Sunday, we saw Killa Cam do what he does best, running with the football an insane 17 times for 107 yards and a touchdown. ... He also made an impact with his arm, throwing for 284 yards and two more touchdowns.

...

He just looked more confident, strong and, most importantly, healthy. The rushing touchdown was his first in his last nine contests

...

So, the question is, should we expect this production from Cam the rest of the way, or is it a one-time thing?

I’m buying Cam, folks.

...

the Panthers just finally unleashed Cam. The Charlotte Observer reported that Carolina installed more running plays for Cam during the practice week prior to Sunday. ... after watching their offense drop 37 points on a normally good Cincinnati defense, there’s no way the Panthers can go back to limiting Cam’s usage"
