Is this the worst secondary in NFL history?

Heck no! But, this Panther group of DBs are very bad. Panther GM (Dave Gettleman) made colossal mistake by forcing  excess roster attrition. 3/4 of the Panther's 2013 starting defensive backfield are gone (Munnerly, Mikel and Mitchell). Great Scott do we miss Cap and MM!!!  Additionally, we purges every single WR from our 4 person group that Cam had built chemistry with. Furthermore, we lost 3 or more starters from the OL that protected Cam admirably in 2013.

We do have Philly Brown to ease the pain of losing of Ted Ginn.

I liken what happened with Ginn to what happened to Rocket Ishmail.

Rocket came to Charlotte and kick started his floundering career thanks to WR Coach Richard Williamson.

Coach Proehl performed the same magical act with Ginn.

I am beyond frustrated witht the pedestrian retreads that Gettleman sought out as replacement starters.

Avant, Cotchery, Dickson, Cason, Decoud are aged vets that are at best reserves and no more at this stage of their careers.

Finally, we sink 13 million of our cap into Hardy and all the while Gettleman knows of the numerous gaping holes across the 2014 roster.

We are not a team trending as we did last year. Our defense is simply makeshift and has plummeted towards the very bottom of the league.

We may possibly win the NFC South. I doub it because of our inability to win at the point of attack on defense.

This upcoming offseason has to be an ultra-aggressive one for Gettleman. On his watch the 2013 championship team has been nearly dismantled in (1) season.

If this was by design, then I hope Rivera kicks him squarely in his duff!

Our secondary is bad.....but our stud LB corp may be responsible for our biggest blunders on the year.

Gettlemen got lucky last year with his garbage patchwork secondary. Thinking he could pull that off 2 years in a row with an even weaker group was foolish.....was dependent upon even better front play than we saw last season (which totally isn't realistic)

I'm a genius. You're too stupid to understand facts and hyperbole.

Another genius would accept the obvious tongue in cheek nature of the comments and roll with it since there is no way of knowing which secondary is actually the worst in NFL history beyond statistics that will never tell the entire story and therefore don't tell you much of anything regarding the claim.

Gee Einstein, looks like no one else really grasped your "obvious tongue in cheek nature of comments" either. You were busted dumb ass and now you are claiming the hyperbole defense. fug off.

We did sign an aging safety who was one of the weak links from one of the worst defenses in NFL history...whats another two years on his body going to do?!

Oh look...color me not shocked!!

I do know it is more than Harper last week, Godfrey was thrown at immediately as he came in at the nickel backer....and Cason is playing soft cvg.

Decoud is just not a physical guy.

Harper on special teams is a huge ? He just watched Adam Jones cut up field and made very little effort or simple ability to attack him...with a running start.

Pay attention to these guys if you re-watch the game. They were running away from tackles today. They were shying away from collisions, and taking the long route towards players with the ball. I've never seen anything like it in professional football.

It's bad enough that you're giving receivers 5-10 yard cushions, but after they catch it, you back up and then loop towards them to try to make the tackle, and they've picked up seven more yards than they should've gotten by the time you get to them.

Worst secondary in football if not ever.

The only thing that saves them "statistically," is the few interceptions they've gotten. And Cason even bobbled that one, despite it being thrown directly to them. They looked scared. It was pitiful.

Godfrey is too expensive to cut, but a league minimum guy would probably be a better player than he is right now.

I think it is kinda ironic that a guy named ThinkAboutit can't do what his name insinuates.

Why don't you take a look at your name and then look at the title of this thread. See the disconnect?

The Giants/Philly game is prime example of our defense. Up to this point in the season, philly had a bottom tier pass defense and then all of the sudden their DL decides to play superb and got 8 sacks and all kinds of pressure. Eli couldn't pass the ball because he didn't have time and when he did pass, it was within only a few seconds from snap so the receivers didn't have a lot of time to get open. Just imagine I our DL could start playing up to the level they did last year, I guess Hardy is that important to our team. Can't wait I'll he comes back and hopefully gets a contract next year, he is that good
