The Panthers were in a position at 4th and 1 at the 18 where they had a 90% chance of winning the game.

 

Rivera traded that in for a FG attempt with a 60% chance of a tie. And a defensive stand that had a 64% chance of a tie at best.

 

The head coach is responsible for putting the players in a position to win. Not taking them out of a position to win.

 

Rivera chose more risk and less reward. That is as bad as a player fumbling the ball or throwing a pass into triple coverage for an interception.

I thought they should go for the win.  Because as Herm Edwards said, "You play to win the game."  No one ever said "You play to tie the game."

I hate we didn't go for the win on 4th and 1, but I get the decision.

That decision killed me during the game. You're on the road in overtime after your defense just allowed 34 points in regulation and you go for a field goal on a 4th and 1. There was still a chance that last field goal by the bengals would have still given us the loss. I just think you go for the jugular to get respect, anything else makes you look soft.

this thread is why i stayed off the normal gameday thread. you are all nuts if you think we should fire our head coach after a tie against one of the best teams in the league. i thought the playcalling was pretty good overall today. 

 

if you want to blame someone, blame Gano, the ST, the defense, Jerricho Cotchery, and Kelvin Benjamin for all missing their opportunities. 

 

RR is doing the best he can with the execution given and if you all cant see that, then you are all fuggin blind and hopeless as Panthers fans.

 

You are quite fair on those points you bring up here. Actually the only thing I'm upset about Ron is his challenging ability. I really can't remember which time he made the right challenge, it seems everytime when he throws the red flag, we will lose a timeout.

rofl..... last week we had threads complaining about no draft picks/ help on Offense since Cam entered the league...... this week we didnt do enough for defense........ I give up  some one find the answer!
