Your 3 Players to Watch tonight ?

Obviously the DT situation is something I will watch but I really don't think Hayden, Favorite, or Irvin will be starting week 1. If Beason is asking for it then the Panthers will ablidge in some way, shape, or form. I will also pay close attention to the second string oline which should consist of Palmer, Giesinger, Bernadeau, Robinson, and Schwartz based on my Fan Fest observations. I want to see if they keep McCown and Moore upright and if they make some holes for Goodson.

As far as specific players I will be watching here are mine:

1) Kenneth Moore, I really started liking this guy at fan fest. He runs good routes and makes outstanding catches. I just like his work ethic and attitude and if he can play well (I'm thinking 5 catches for 63 yards monday night) then I think he is a lock for the fifth receiver spot, assuming we keep five.

2) Gary Barnidge, another guy who stood out at fan fest and I guy that could play a huge role this season in the passing game. I would even bet Jake targets him at least twice on the first drive and maybe even get him a touchdown. Anyone remember when Davidson got here and he talked about how much he liked getting tightends involved in the passing game? Maybe now he has the type of player on the roster.

3) Hilee Taylor, I figure everyone will be looking at Brown but I'm telling you right now Taylor will be in on several plays and will probably have a sack or two on Carr. He has speed, bulked up, and with Brayton kicking inside on passing downs watch for him to have a 6-7 sack season.

1) Goodson- I want to see him at game speed, mostly to figure out exactly how good he is. I know he will contribute but I will feel much better if he can handle standard running plays.

2) Barnidge- Lets face it, the only thing we are really missing on offense is a real threat at TE and he represents the biggest chance to fill that role on the team. More than anything I want to see him handle blocking duties, so he can take the reigns as starter.

3) Connor- As much as I respect Diggs, he will need replaced and our best bet is Dan as of right now, so I'm hoping that hoping he has what it takes.

Who will you have your eye on mostly during the game ?

Keep in mind starters won't be out for a long time at all.

Me.

1) Sherrod Martin. VERY little has come out of camp about this kid, he was drafted 2nd by the Panthers so obviously he was highly thought of by the Front Office. Yet I feel like I should put his face on a milk carton thus far in camp.

2) Mecedes Babuxuexburs *how the f**k ever you spell it*. 2nd year for this kid. Won strongman/badass competition. He is our heir to that highly valued lg/c/rg backup that the Hangman held down so well. Gmen have decent depth at DT so should have some good matchups for him to show off with.

3) Goodson - Hype or for serious ? Nuff said Show us something kid.

Mackenzy Bernadeau*

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
