Should we have gone for it?

  1. 1. Should we have gone for it?

Better than a lost. If we failed on 4th and 1 and lose complete meltdown. Special Teams failed us.

We, in effect, lost this game.  A missed chip-shot & a tie worked out better than a loss, but it was pretty obvious they would move the ball down field & Nugent had hit 3 this game already.  Luck is better than a loss, but Riverboat could have turned this into a win.  Cam using his feet if everyone was covered had been successful in the game.

A tie is almost certainly equivalent to a loss. Rivera should be fired on the basis of this singular decision. A head coach who doesn't understand the numbers is a worthless coach.

SO OF fuging COURSE YOU GO FOR THE WIN AND IF YOU LOSE OH WELL AT LEAST YOU TRIED TO WIN WHEN YOU HAD THE CHANCE

Lol you should be the one that tells the boss after failing to convert with "we lost......but we tried" :P

Also, to point out there was enough time that a 3 and out would have gave us the ball on the 30/40 and we could have won with a FG at that point.

No there wasn't! We had no timeouts left and 2 mintues left. No freakkin way we got the ball back unless of a turnover. They could have just let the clock run out if they didn't get it on 3rd. We still would have tied.

If you don't win you lose.  Did we win?

We lost because of a bad choice.  A choice that was so cosmically bad the person who made it should be pushed out of the plane.

Howabout you be the guy who tells the boss that you chose to lose the game instead of taking the chance to win it.

Except if we have 9 wins and any other team in the South has 9 wins we get in. So no, it is not the same thing.

I thought we had a t/o, also teh 2 minute was an extra timeout, I also thought we had that and the bengals were on second down. Even the announcers were saying they needed to play smart to not give it back. But I am jsut going off memory.

Regardless, we took a shot, and Cotchery fuged up on a beautiful pass from Cam. I don't blame the coaches for that.

It's not like we forced a couple turnovers or anything.

You're counting on one play to win the game on 4th and 1.  With the tie we had mutliple plays to win.

From the play on which Gano kicked the last field goal to the end of the game I count exactly 0 chances to win and 1 big chance to have outright lost.
