That's not how real life works. Green was out, Olsen was in. You never know what would have happened if things had been different. You're making up hypotheticals to support an argument and that never works.

I'm not making an argument at all Jackson IS a better OC than Shula...nothing to argue about it's all there.

I understand some people like you (and, obviously, Rivera) are just naturally passive.

Football is an aggressive game. You don't become a winner in football by being passive.

I applaud aggressiveness in football. It may not always work out for you, but aggressiveness SHOULD always be applauded.

He goes for it on that 4th and fails? Personally, I'd still give him tons of credit for being AGGRESSIVE and trying to fuging WIN.

Instead, he went all hedge hog.

Here's some proof here, I'm in mountain time zone my friend who has Sunday Ticket was texting me what was going on. I even said "cam up the middle" ... Don't say I'm passive

Bottom line is We didn't lose. I'd rather not lose than lose. If we go for it and don't get it I know for a fact you would not be patting ron on the back for it

I'd rather lose with Cam getting a shot to win it with a 4th and 1 opportunity. No way he doesn't pick up that yard, given what he had been doing the whole day

Two completely different scenarios.  We hadn't established the run all game vs SF.... Cam ran 17 times for 107 yards today.  They couldn't stop him

Clearly I'm just saying there was certainly a chance we would't have gotten the 1st down.

Cam was running well all day and Bengals had no answer for it. Carolina defense wasn't gonna stop ANYBODY from getting at least a field goal with two minutes on the clock. I was screaming my head off, pacing back and forth when Rivera decided to take the 3 points. If they didn't get the first down that would have been better than counting on the defense to stop ANYBODY from marching right back down the field and getting the win. We are very lucky that was a tie and not a loss.

Rivera coaches scared.

Period.

His philosophy isn't attack-attack-attack, its ball up into the fetal position and hope for the best. Maybe they won't hurt me if I roll up into a little ball!

I 100% agree with this. I was looking for a way to put this disappointment into words, and this is the closest I've gotten to resembling what I'd like to say.

There is no attack. There is no will to win. It's "pray to God Cam has an amazing game and bails us out". That's literally the gameplan. There is probably a whiteboard in the coaches' lounge that says that verbatim.

Sigh... this thread just makes me sad...  Complaining about a tie because they wouldn't go for it on 4 & 1.

And I call bs on those that say they wouldn't have been mad if the offense had gone for it not gotten the yard.  The history of this place says that's a lie.
