Official Panthers - Bengals Gameday Thread

I know everyone hates fantasy football questions, and I ALWAYS root for the Panthers FIRST and get happy about FF second, but I have Dalton and Cam, and am genuinely unsure about which to play.

My heart says Cam. My gut says Dalton. Mind you I had Greek food and IPA's last night so my gut could be very wrong. So very, very wrong.

Panthers fans are getting excited about AJ Green being out - and don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not complaining lol - but it hasn't been the WRs that have gashed us. It's been the RBs. I could def see a huge game on hand for Gio and Jeremy Hill. Another big test for the D. Every single person is picking the Bengals. That's usually good for us. Play better when we aren't expected to win.

Gio and Hill are very good young backs, but the Bengals are 8th-worst in the NFL averaging only 3.7 yards per rush. Their center is a 22-year-old rookie out of UNC (Russell Bodine) who is understandably struggling

on the other hand, Pittsburgh is #3 in the NFL averaging 5.0 ypc and the Ravens are #8 in the NFL averaging 4.7 ypc

this is what the Bengals running game has done this season in their 3 wins:

3.7 ypc vs Titans (AJ Green caught for 102)

3.8 ypc vs Falcons (AJ Green out with toe injury)

3.0 ypc @Ravens (AJ Green caught for 131)

Go with Dalton. That way Cam will go off today. Isn't that the way it usually happens?

In a figurative sense I always thought the "heart" and the "gut" were the same thing.

Since Cam Newton came to the Panthers , he's been an

underdog of 7+ points six times, Carolina has lost every

game.

Bengals favored by 7 which i think is too high. The way i look at the Panthers losing everytime we are the underdog by 7+ is that that is like flipping a coin six times and it comes up tails all six times. You just know the chances are very high it will be heads on the 7th flip

    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
    • The lack of production is especially surprising given how much effort the team put into coaxing the best from him.  In just six short years he’s had the opportunity to work with 3 different GMs, 7 different head coaches and 10 different starting quarterbacks.  There’s literally no excuse to be made that one of those combos didn’t work.  It might be time to look withIAN.
