Awesome I thought I was the only one that liked the genre! You guys already listed all the groups i think off. Add in this moment on there. I saw draint sth open for godsmack  at the tremont music hall when i was a teenager. They ripped off their tops and rocked out with pasties...#awesome!

I started with lacuna coil and within temptation , and through pandora and iheart discovered all these other bands. All this music is big in Europe. Concerts have over 100k people at them. It is light years better then the garbage on our radios. I dont understand why it doesnt catch on over here.

Maybe its just my preference but I am completely turned off by women singers. The only acceptable lead woman is the one from heart and even she is heavily supported by her guitarist

Last.fm has shown me tons of bands like I named. I've only gotten through half of their suggestions.

...and if you want to talk about symphonic metal without limiting it to female vocalists, this is the best three track symphonic metal instrumental sequence I have ever heard, and it is from a technical death metal band from NC...
