I don't know what I am more disappointed in. Taking a RB with a 1st or the amount of people supporting it. You guys realize that he isn't a sure thing. Just look at Richardson. The last RB that was really worth a 1st rd pick AP in 2007. Have you guys forgotten about the OL? He can't run through a wall of 300lb fat dudes.

Have you really watched Gurley play?  He's magnificent to watch.  No one guy can bring him down and he's tough as nails.

No one has forgotten about the OLine.  How well are we supposed to address that position if we're stuck in the middle to late 1st round?  Reach for a guy who should be drafted in the 2nd?  Our interior line will get better.  A great RB will only help our Oline.  Right now, defenses can just pin there ears back.  No one's scared of Darrin Reaves, and Chris Obqi;jelkkenqfnqerngnow.

RB is the biggest hole on the roster, especially with DWILL and Stew coming of the books soon.  I know everyone is petrified of rbs because of Hurney, but having Gurley on a 4 year rookie deal with a team option is an amazing exit strategy.  We've already seen some top picks at Tackle get abused.  Eric Fisher has done nothing with Kansas City.  Jake Long has already gone down.  St Louis is a losing team with Greg Robinson.  Jacksonville has given up 21 sacks this season with Luke Joeckel at LT.   The guys that seems to be doing the best right now is Joel Bitonio and I believe he was a second rounder.  There's no reason why we can't address T in the second round and through FA.

With respect to the salary cap why would you give your cheap 4-5 yr contract to a RB when RBs are the cheapest position to fill. If you go back and look at first rd RBs how many would you say was worth it in the past 10 yrs or so?

I'm not sure how much you've watched him play then.

I would rather draft a player that cares more about his team than making a few extra bucks and getting suspended from it.  You get the oline fixed first before wasting a pick on a elite rb.  All you have to do is look at TB and the RB's they have went through the past 5 years.

Ya big transition between College and NFL. Most don't make it. Here is a list of the best 1st rd rbs.

Not a good thing when williams and stewart are 4 and 5.

You could say the same thing about safety, or we could just give first round money to second round talent at Tackle or CB.  CB's and Safety's aren't even the focal point of our defensive scheme.

This is why.  RB's have the best transition rate when it comes to being effective out of college.  With the rookie cap, we won't be breaking the bank for him and  Gurley instantaneously makes us much better on offense.  Gurley is the one RB that you would do it on.  I'm telling you....the guy is like Marshawn Lynch.

It's a big contract extension that you want to stay away from.

Ingram is running very well right now, and Spiller is having a good year. Spiller, and Jackson have suffered through having no decent qb until recently and that's still up for debate.

So Ingram was worth the first round draft pick if it takes a contract year for him to develop and finally start running hard and for NO to get rid of their #1 weapon out of the back field?

Fred Jackson has ran just fine without QB play since his days in buffalo.

2009 QB Ryan Fitzpatrick/Trent Edwards

1,062 Yards 4.2 Ypc 2 TD

2010 QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

927 Yards 4.2 Ypc 5 TD

2011 QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

934 Yards 5.5 Ypc 6 TD (injured)

2012 QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

437 Yards 3.8 Ypc 3 TD (injured)

2013 QB EJ Manual

896 Yards 4.3 Ypc 9 TD

gurley doesn't even look like a rb to me honestly.

he's too tall people are gonna attack his knees at the next level. not good.

Been watching as many highlights of this guy as I can, and I'm not overly impressed yet.

Brandon Jacobs ish to me, but not as thick.

Personally I don't care about power and size as much in the NFL as I do about vision, and burst.

Give him to me in the 4th.....maybe.

Vision and decision making were Emmitt Smith's best characteristics.
