Cam v. Luck - The "Build Around" Philosophy

LOL

The Colts went 11 and 5, played .500 ball against playoff teams, won a playoff game and beat the two best teams in football along the way.

Exactly what do the Colts need to do to prove they are a good football team?

Go undefeated?

Not have a losing record outside their lame division would be a good start.

I mean, heck, 7 of their 11 wins came against the AFC South and the Raiders.

If that is your schedule and you don't win 10 or 11 games your coach should be fired.

And I am not saying they aren't a good team. But several good teams don't get free passes like that and therefore don't make the playoffs.

Maybe if 4 of their 5 losses weren't against teams that didn't make the playoffs.

I dunno.

But they are a good team. With an easy as pie division which makes them about as impressive as other teams that are good but play in a tougher division and don't make the playoffs or get to 11 wins every season because they actually played tough competition.

They played the NFCW last year I know. They beat SF away and Seattle at home but they did lose to St Louis and Arizona. Losing to Arizona isn't a bad loss because they we a really good team last year but to lose to the Rams leads me to question whether or not they are a good team. The Rams killed them also.

No shame in losing to Zona. Getting beat 40-11 though...

Gettleman has done a piss poor job at putting together a line for Newton. No the cap is not the issue. He should've let Hardy walk and used the money on the line. I have thought this since the very first day it was announced that we tagged him. Going into this season with our line "as is" was the dumbest move Gettleman has made yet.

maybe he had enough sense to see how bad our D would be without him and there wasn't the talent to bring in that  would cancel the loss of Hardy out.

The Colts are 9-0 against the crappy AFC South 6-7 against rest of the NFL since last season.

Division matters

Neato.

The Colts are 9-0 against the terrible AFC South and 6-7 against the rest of the league since last season.

Division matters.

W/L Records are not always best measure to determine competition.

You sure do keep bringing up win/loss against their division to determine their competition, and then say W/L are not always the best measure to determine competition.

Yet, if you point things like this out, or say things like this, somehow you hate Gettleman and hope JR sells the team to move to LA or something.

Name the offensive weapons.....and core offensive talent built around Cam 4 years then.

I'll save you the trouble of mentioning Double Trouble bc having 2 top 10 cap RBs who underperform and handicap the team isn't building around a QB.

Adding Kelvin.....keeping Olsen and Kalil....and having the weakest OL in his 4 yr career isn't "building around your QB". Not if you compare it to a team like Indy that is building around their QB by adding steady young talent to grow along with their QB in an offense

If you look at all the players Indy has brought in. You could dismiss them as easily as you have dismissed all of the guys we brought in. How many difference makers have they added?

lol

If Fitz is your QB, you suck. Right off the bat. Don't even need to know who else is on the roster.

Oh, and he is the second best QB in the division so they will likely go 7-9 or 8-8 with 5 of those wins coming against the Jags, Titans, and Raiders

Bullshit. Our line is pathetic. There were plenty of tackle options at the start of free agency. We had options to upgrade our line overall.

Who would you have signed with that 13m? How long would they be on our books? The best part of the Hardy deal was no long term commitment for us.

Sure, we could have signed Anthony Collins. He's a 6m cap hit for the TB Bucs. But for 5 years....I think the Panthers looking to date, not marry.

I love the rebuttal to our shitty line is "who would you have signed?". Then your answers get nit picked. How about linemen that aren't complete poo? That's a start. We could've signed at least 3 solid linemen with that money.
