Are We Headed for a Fire Sale?

The part that bugs me is that we're going to have to spend some high draft picks to keep our defense strong, and our offense will keep ailing because of it. We will need DEs for sure, and we'll also need an LB and S and maybe a CB or two.

This is what worries me. Our team isn't young, and there's pieces on both sides of the ball that will need to be phased out. Then, with the "keep your strengths strong" stuff, we could be in an awkward situation heading into training camp next year.

Short may be flourishing because of the attention Star is getting. Once the tide turns and focus shifts we will know.

That's a really good point. It'll even itself out.

Nice to have two guys that play sea-saw back n forth...same age and super young that keeps the opposition guessing because they aren't vets set in their ways. Diversify

Short was a rotational guy coming into the season and isn't even really considered a starter on this squad, right?

Short has been the best lineman this season and was regarded as the best pass rushing DT by many in his draft

We were 12-4 last year. Gettleman was smart enough not to go "all in" this year, but we certainly are not rebuilding.

I don't understand some fans' fascination with blowing things up.

The Panthers had a fire sale after 2009. That's once in 20 years, and they were extenuating circumstances with the lockout.

I hope to never live through that again. The Panthers are 3-2 with a legitimate shot at back-to-back winning seasons and playoff appearances for the first time in team history.

Why can we just not focus on the present- it is a lot better than it is in many years
