American Horror Story - Freak Show

Having a hard time wrapping my head around why they are singing songs that came out way after the 1950's.

When Elsa got mad and threw the music sheet, it said "Criminal" by "Fiona Apple"

I would imagine it's to connect to a modern day audience. There's a killer clown running around and that's what you question? You know this show isn't real life right?

Well no poo it's not real life , but I thought there was some kind of connection or reason they used that particular song that I didn't catch on to.

Episode three of the season is really started to kick up. Did anyone catch the Micheal Myers reference in the beginning of the show during the trick or treat scene with the little girl? How Twisty is standing kind of offset from the shrubery when they first show him. That and the POV when Dandy put on the clown mask. Patty Labelle made Dandy her bitch, though.

The introduction of Edward Mordrake is pretty interesting.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Mordake

Edward Mordrake was the name given to an apocryphal 19th-century heir to an unspecified English peerage who was said to have suffered from a form of Diprosopus. According to sources, he had, on the back of his head, an extra face which could neither eat nor speak out loud, although it was described as being able to laugh and cry. Edward reportedly begged doctors to have his "Demon face" removed, claiming that it whispered to him at night, but no doctor would attempt it. He committed suicide when he was 23 years old

No idea wtf the Viking scene was was all about...yet.

Interested to see how part two of a part 1 episode will unfold.

It was a cover of Lana Del Rey's "Gods and Monsters". I think the writers want to portray artists that have been outcasts or "freaks" if you will. Not that much of a fan of the musical numbers, fortunately there shouldn't be many. They are performers however in the show, that and it's all fantasy.

I loved Season 1, couldn't finish Season 2 (was up and down and I lost interest 2 or 3 episodes from the end) and Season 3 only took 1 episode for me to know I wasn't going to like it.  Episode 1 of Freakshow was interesting.  I'm gonna give it a few episodes to see if it can keep my interest.  At the very least, it's the first season since 1 that I can actually watch the intro.  The other two seasons' intros annoyed the hell out of me.
