Watt is an elite individual player.  Luke makes everyone around him BETTER with his ability to lead and diagnosis.  One day people will figure out how to really stuff Watt and make him not as effective, where as you can't stop Luke's ability to read plays and place people where they will need to be on Defense.

Which player makes the greatest impact on the rest of his respective defense?  Which player is in the best position to make the others around him better?

 

I lean towards Luke when I think about the leadership and the ability to get a unit to play together better, but if the line can't keep blockers off of him, then he becomes somewhat neutralized.  Watt is a freak of nature, and it's scary to think of Clowney coming back soon the way Watt is playing this season.

 

I really can't decide, but I know this much, if I had to give up Luke for anyone else on defense in the NFL, I don't think I could do it.  So I guess there's your answer.

The thing about it is, last year this wouldn't be close but with our defense getting completely destroyed by the Ravens and Steelers, both mediocre teams in many peoples opinions.  With Watt also balling like he has, it's actually a legit question.

With Watt you will have more impact plays. Keek will impact more plays though.

I'd take Watt in a heartbeat.

Luke would be next...there's no other active NFL Defensive player I would take in front of him.

If you have Watt we'd still have Beason at MLB so that wouldn't be bad as long as Beason can stay healthy
