Interesting question, especially considering last night's game...

 

Both guys have the ability to take over a game.  Both make your Defenses better.  Both are truly special players.

 

I'd take Watt barely over Keuchly.  It's because Watt is SO GOOD at wrecking game plans.  He really is.  Keuchly can, and does.  But Keuchly needs the DL to do something to keep the OL off of him.  He is dependent upon the DL keeping him and Davis clean.

Watt's LBs have an easier time because he's wrecking things so often.

 

It's close, but I have to say Watt.  Keuchly is a beast, and he will become the best MLB we've ever had.  I still have to take Watt.

Anyone who picks like over Watt right now needs to watch Watt play. If the game is truly won in the trenches then it's a no brainer who is the better choice. Watt can play multiple positions as well, Luke wasn't great at OLB compared to the star he is at MLB.

give me luke all day.  luke is the best ILB in the game, and in the 43 he has a lot more responsibility.  watt is an exceptional player, but i feel more easily game-planned against.

i understand your point on the trenches, and really after watching last night's game it is easy to jump on the watt train, but he can and does get shutdown by good OL gameplans.  watch luke after 25 tackles against the saints and we are talking a different story.  they are both the best in the NFL at what they do.  for our defense i'd take luke all day.  the main difference for DEs is that when they make a play usually it is a highlight play.  what a MLB does might not make a reel, but luke stops a lot of 20+ yard run and pass plays.  you just never know about them because they didn't happen.
