ILLEGAL BLOCKS BY OFFENSIVE PLAYER

Article 3: Illegal Block by Offensive Player.

It is a foul if an offensive blocker:

(a) Thrusts his hands forward above the frame of an opponent to contact him on the head, neck, or face (Note: Contact

in close-line play that is not prolonged and sustained is not a foul unless the opponent’s head is pinned back by

direct and forcible contact);

( B)Blocks an opponent (from behind) in the back above the opponent’s waist, or uses his hands or arms to push an

opponent from behind in a manner that affects his movement, except in close-line play.

LOS and the block occured close enough to the 10 yard line that it wouldn't be a penalty.

Did you know?

Blocking Notes:

1. When a defensive player is held by an offensive player during the following situations, Offensive Holding will not be called:

(a) if the runner is being tackled simultaneously by another defensive player;

(b  if the runner simultaneously goes out of bounds;

(c  if a Fair Catch is made simultaneously;

(d) if the action clearly occurs after a forward pass has been thrown to a receiver beyond the line of scrimmage;

(e) if the action occurs away from the point of attack and not within close line play;

(f) if a free kick results in a touchback;

(g) if a scrimmage kick simultaneously becomes a touchback;

(h) if the action is part of a double-team block, unless the defender is taken to the ground.

Exception:

Holding will be called if the opponent is blocked to the ground by one or both of the offensive players.

(i) if, during a defensive charge, a defensive player uses a rip technique that puts an offensive player in a position

that would normally be holding.

Exception:

Holding will be called if the defender’s feet are taken away from him by the offensive player’s action.

2. If a blocker fall on or pushes down a defender whose momentum is carrying him to the ground, Offensive Holding will not

be called unless the blocker prevents the defender from rising from the ground.

3. If the official has not seen the entire action that sends a defender to the ground, Offensive Holding will not be called.

Ok...was not aware of the "close line play" rule...although that seems like subjective bull poo to me and excuse for the refs to make more bad calls.

Off topic, but, does anyone have a clip of Jeffery's personal foul?  A guy I work with(Bears fan) said there was nothing illegal about it.  I remember seeing the replay on the big screen, but not much details because there's just so much going on at the stadium.

We were quite fortunate to get the lion share of poo and other calls in our favor last year. This year seems not so much. It really does make you wonder how much of all this is orchestrated ala "pro" wrestling.

I was just watching the game again on Rewind and saw the 1st half TD by Forte. I swear Luke was blocked in the back about as bad as I have ever seen on that play. Right?

Seems like we get the poo end of every call sometimes.

IDK if already posted or discussed but just irked me...
