Goodell believes in due process, but...

If Hardy doesn't come off the list before end of the Year then Why would the Panthers re-sign him or any team for that matter and have to Pay hardy indefinitely to not play?

Something has to give with this  list

That's what I'm talking about.    If he is still on that list,  no team is going to sign him.

Would be a little screwed up if Rice is back on the football field before Hardy is.

If they heard and saw that Hardy was found guilty by a judge.....why not just freaking suspend him for the first offense -6 game suspension...and be done with the whole thing? The only thing the paid on-leave and then the unpaid suspension is hurting is the team.

That is the catch.

Suspend him without pay for 6 games....Hardy and the NFLPA have a legit case. Due process...yada yada yada...where my money.

Suspend him with pay for 6....then you aren't punishing him.

NFL has worked themselves into a corner bc they mishandled Ray Rice. They should be following there old approach if just punishing dudes once the legal process was done.

Honestly, a lot of work places (including where I work) have a set of rules that say if you do something that gets you arrested, you can be put on administrative leave, even if you aren't found guilty immediately.

There's no middle ground or "balance" when it comes to due process. Half way punishing someone (paid leave) is still a punishment and if it's before they've had their day in court you're still denying them due process. And Hardy being put on the exempt list had absolutely nothing to do with if the accusation was credible or not, it was solely done because of media/public pressure.
