She got her license

Shooting you is the easy way out, you coward. Man up and deal with the years of torture ahead of you. A drivers license is but a stepping stone toward teenage pregnancy followed by a string of loser boyfriends, you & the wife raising her kid, moving into the basement and hoping against all hope it turns out like "Juno."

Being the parent of a 14 yo daughter, your post just gave be a small panic attack.

Just learned a bit of info from her mom...

I got the text from her telling me she'd passed her test just after she got done. Her mom didn't actually know she'd already told me so she texted me too and was surprised to find I'd already heard.

What I learned today though? Apparently she never bothered to text her biological dad.

Now, given that from everything I know the guy's a colossal douche who doesn't give a rip about his kids, can't say I blame her. Still, I found it kinda surprising.

You should feel good about that. It is clear that she respects you and knows she is lucky to have a male role model who cares about her in her life.

Well done

I don't know.  I just know I love her like she was my own.  I was there the day of her prom, and watching her walk out dolled up like a princess left me misty-eyed.

She and I actually have a lot in common.  My girlfriend swears somehow, some way, she's really my daughter.

Of course, she becomes my daughter alone whenever she does something wrong or pulls a goofy stunt.

(so...fairly often)
