Yes the Broncos were my 2nd team. It's just that the Pats need a WR more than the Broncos and the Pats seem to always get great FAs for decent prices.

I've heard people question if maybe Suh is overrated.

 

My gut response would be no, but there have been whispers.

 

 

I think that he is overrated, much like Clay Matthews.

 

 

However, Steve Smith is overrated right now, as well.  He is a top 5 DT in this league, IMO, however he is not worth what folks think that he is going to command.

 

I'm not totally convinced that spending that kind of money on any player outside of a top 10 QB is worth it to a franchise.

Can't afford megatron huh? Idk what his cap hit is this year but I'm sure it's around 13mil. 13mil we wasted with hardy. I'm not saying I want him bc it means someone else being sacrificed, but we could probably afford him

His cap hit this year is around 20 mill, next year 20 mill the following 24 mill. Not tagging hardy would not have made a difference unless you either don't want Cam or Luke on the team

These days I think everyone judges how good players are by how many highlight reels they see on ESPN.

I think you'd have to forget more than just Hardy.

Would he come here for $13-15M/year??? Forget Hardy and sign Megatron and them bam we've got ourselves an elite offense if we can draft or sign servicable tackles.

 

That is what Detroit has been trying for the past 12 years.  They have been garbage throughout that span as well.  Drafting and spending all their money on WRs and having no defense.

the thing is no team is going to pay that much money for a WR even if it is Megatron. Lions have an above average starter in stafford and megatron plus a decent defense and can't even make the playoffs. 

 

 

some team (Oakland) might be dumb enough to give him that much money, but no WR no matter how good is worth it

 

Fwiw I think Calvin and JJ Watt are the best players in the league, but WR doesn't change games like QB does

With all the cap space they'll free up when Hardy is inevitably let go they might be able to make a move.  But is it really worth it?  Benjamin has the potential to be the next Calvin Johnson at a fraction of the cost.  And every Panthers fan knows they need to put a good bit of work into the O-Line this offseason...let alone sign Cam and Kuechly to extensions very soon.

Joe Montana, Emmitt Smith, Jerry Rice, Steve McNair and heck, even Steve Smith...All guys that for one reason or another wound up doing something nobody ever imagined possible, playing with a different uniform on.

 

I really don't believe it'll happen, but looking at the names listed above, it's hard to discount that it could.

 

Can't remember the scenario with McNair, but the rest of those guys were or are on the downside of their careers.  Johnson is in the middle of his.  It would be unusual.

That said, if The Whiners, Broncos or Seahawks go after him, we must do everything in our power to acquire him.

 

So, what do you value more?

 

Balancing the cap and winning your division. Wait for that lucky season to win it all.

 

Or

 

Max the cap each season and load up on talent to make a charge at a Super Bowl for a few seasons.

 

Windows in the NFL are short in the new era of free agency. Get the players that will put you over the top for a few seasons is my theory. And for the love of God, coaches need to stop trying to force their weakest units to carry half the game. There are other ways to balance the play calling. Get creative and use your strengths.
