if there is even a little bit of fire causing all this smoke, and considering our history with carruth and our desire to seperate ourselves from that as much as possible, you could hardly blame the panthers from wanting to distance themselves from hardy, even if what he has done (or even alleged to have done) is nowhere near the degree that carruth took it. it's self preservation and knowing that this team can win without him will make that decision easier if it's the decision they feel needs to be made.

I seriously doubt he will ever play for the Panthers again. Here is what we're looking at time table wise. Hardy is going to be suspended at the end of his trial. If he's innocent, then he will be suspended. If he's guilty, then he will be suspended longer.  I don't think his trial will not begin this year. I think some time next year the trial will begin. Let's say he's found innocent. The NFL is going to suspend him, and I've already explained why in other posts. So Hardy will be serving a suspension next season. The weeks he has spent on the exempt list will not lower his suspension in my opinion.

sponsors can and will pull their support if their bottom line is effected by what one player does or if they feel they don't want to be associated with an organization that is giving that much money to someone who has been found guilty of domestic assault...which is pretty much what the public perception of hardy is and nobody whose money is on the line wants to risk making sponsors unhappy and if we start losing spnsors, the financial value of sponsorships decreases. you can't know that they would be able to continue financially without missing a beat. you can't make everyone happy, but you're damned as an organization if you start losing sponsors/financial support because that stuff can spread like cancer. one drops and others may start to follow suit and while you may have others willing to be sponsors, they may not be willing to pay as much as the ones before them did. in fact i can pretty much guarantee you that point because sponsorships typically go to the highest bidder. one drops out and then you have to settle for the one with the second or third best bid, but now they have a bargaining ship they didn't previously have, which is the absence of someone willing to outbid them. even for sponsorships that aren't bidded on, the value diminshes with less interest or dropped support.

we can and probably would keep going around in circles and i'm too tired to keep it going, but my point would remain this: agree with it or not....like it or not...there is likely a lot more factoring into their decision what to do with hardy than "does hardy help win games".

and to your point about hardy helping win games, he absolutely does, but this past week we found that our defense can adjust to life without him by beating/dominating a pretty stinking good offense. if we can continue to do that, then that in itself brings into question whether or not he's worth the $10mil a year we would likely be signing him to and before you start debating that same argument in regards to say cam or kuechly, i would say that hardy is absolutely not as crucial to this team as either one of those two guys are. but then you add in the drama that is apparently surrounding hardy and it makes the decision to give him that much money that much harder.

i understand where you are coming from, but i also understand that there is more to factor into it than just "does hardy help us win?".

Tldr

Hardy isnt going to make sponsors drop. There isn't a video of him hitting her. There aren't pictures of the damage he might have done for the world to see. It's his word versus hers. And if you are outside the Carolina market you hardly know who hardy is let alone care anymore at this point.

With the amount you've written in this thread about it I can see what you are pulling even if you don't admit to it which is fine but don't say the decision won't come down to football at the very because it will.

Ravens were ready to stand behind rice the whole way until that second video dropped. He is no where as good to them as hardy is to us.

Hardy also has to think about his next deal. Double edged sword. Not playing means healthy. Not playing also means smaller deal

Have Hardy serve the 6 game suspension for embarrassing the NFL with this mess, then let him play. 

 

If he's found guilty after NC's fugged up trial policy, then suspend him indefinitely.
