Does Hardy come back after 6 games?

All his lifestyle business is speculation. Guarantee you they will only be asking one question when looking to play him or sign him long term. Is he good enough to help win games were we can put up with the headache? The answer is yes.

I think he plays and I also think he stays a panther after this year. CJ is too old and too expensive. Hardy is in his prime and his deal can be worked to better fit us.

He'll probably be found innocent due to lack of evidence and that will be the last of that.

Bring him back when 6 are up.

what i bolded is also speculation.

for the panthers, tho, none of this is speculation. they know what he's doing and into. they may not know everything, but they know enough to decide whether or not what he does off field and the headache it causes them is worth paying him $10mil a year or whatever.

btw, there's plenty of people who are around him who know about that lifestyle. it isn't as speculative as you make it out to be. he parties a lot and hangs out with some people who have very questionable judgement...case in point is his ex-girlfriend he is accused of assaulting...but i'm not going to argue that point. like i said, i don't have a dog in this fight and i don't care enough to debate it further.

He's a double digit sack, probowl, top 10 de. That isn't speculation. He clearly has the talent to back up the headache.

Really think JR would even allow him back? He is done here in Carolina.

if there is even a little bit of fire causing all this smoke, and considering our history with carruth and our desire to seperate ourselves from that as much as possible, you could hardly blame the panthers from wanting to distance themselves from hardy, even if what he has done (or even alleged to have done) is nowhere near the degree that carruth took it. it's self preservation and knowing that this team can win without him will make that decision easier if it's the decision they feel needs to be made.

it's the degree of the headache that is speculative. they, as an organization have to have some standards for themselves beyond performance. as a fan (short for fanatic) you/we may not agree, but that's probably because we are not looking at it from any other perspective than the wins and losses at the end of the season. from an organizational standpoint they have to look at a much bigger picture than we tend to do and act/base decisions on more information than we have.

basically our bottom line is not theirs nor is our rationale for decision making thiers.

Their bottom line is wins. Listen to any coach gm or owner and that's what they will tell you.

Football decisions. Wins on the field. That's what matters to them. More wins means more money.

Seems to me this is like Animal House where the fraternity was under double secret probation unbeknownst to them.  Hardy did what he did understanding that it was a problem and when found guilty should receiver some type of punishment. But he is being punished and his livelihood is being threatened without him knowing when and where this will be resolved if at all.  There has to be some kind of defined punishment and when he serves that time he should be allowed to play just like the league did with everyone including Vick.  It is outrageous that they are putting him in limbo for months with no resolution. It isn't just the money but what is going to happen going forward.  IS he going to play this year?  Next?  When?    Who is going to sign him unless they know what his status will be.   He should come back week 7 and if found guilty on appeal should lose the money for those games. If they overturn his guilty verdict on appeal he should keep his money.  But putting him in limbo indefinitely is just unreasonable.

I think we should for no other reason than to tell the media "F U!" The guy if guilty would only serve a 6 game suspension for a first offense, mind you the hardy incident predates the new rule, by the league.

The guy would have served his punishment already, he should play. He is only costing us over $700k per game to sit on his ass. We can't get the cap money back and buy a better oline. So the team is going to be stuck paying this guy the whole season to sit at home and do what exactly? No!! F the media, and their hypocritical ways!

off field issues can upset sponsors and that can mean less money. they have to factor that i to the equation. they also have to factor in the effect certain players have on the atmosphere in the lockerroom (which can effect wins and losses) and also their financial investment in players and what they do off field can have a negative effect on that investment. anytime off field activities effects a players ability to perform on the field (which effects the wins and losses), it effects their investment. they don't have to put a protective bubble over their players, but it is reasonable that they draw a line as to what is acceptable. if they feel like his off field life will effect his ability to perform, then they have to question whether or not the investment in them is worth it.

right now, you can make a solid argument that our investment in him this year was not worthwhile because things going on in his life interfered. even if he didn't assault that girl and it was just an accusation made by some crazy drugged out woman, you have to question his judgement in those he chooses to be with and the effect it can have on him. that's not to say he can't be friends or relations with whoever he wants, but it has to be realized that he wouldn't be in this situation were it not for his relationship with her and his activites outside the stadium. if he doesn't change his circle of people, or at least some of them, you have to wonder if there might be other incidents he gets stuck in the middle of might effect his ability to perform.

Speaking to our podcast guest attorney Jeremy Smith the other day. He has had DV cases in Charlotte go over a year into two years awaiting a trial date. The likelihood of a November court resolution is slim to none apparently. This thing could run well into 2015 and possibly 2016. It's all up to the judge by the way, she controls her own calendar. She could choose to have the trial next week if she wanted, apparently.

So with that all in mind, do we bring Hardy back after six games off?

I notice you keep saying "she" when referring to the judge. Is it mandatory that he have the same judge that he had at the bench trial?

The panthers are worth a billion dollars. The nfl is worth billions of dollars. Sponsors won't pull regardless. To much money for them at stake and they know if they drop there will be a line forming from our companies to take their place not one second after it happens. Which brings it back to football and wins. Hardy helps us win.

    • Agreed on all counts. The thread just read a bit like the Rhule deference that was here early on, and especially in the back and forth with Bridgewater where everyone sided with Rhule and staff over Teddy just because they hated Teddy's play. Look how that turned out.
