Panthergurus 2015 1st quarter mock draft

I didn't do a mock "offseason with free agency" like chuck did so every is based off current needs and projections without free agency.

All draft projections are based off cbs sports prospect rankings due to the fact that I don't have enough time to do my own.

If you don't like what round someone is picked then do your own draft and put them elsewhere.

I have us picking in the 20-25 reach

1st round- Spencer Drango 6-5 315 OT Baylor- Obvious need and obvious fit for a team with WAY too little tackle depth. He may be picked before this but a man can dream.

Prospect rank: 19

2nd round-Mario Edwards Junior 6-3 294 DE Florida State- With Greg gone and Charles dealing with injuries on and off we could go ahead and have another DE duo in the making with Ealy and Edwards. Plus gettleman loves his defensive ends and who knows if Frank will be back next year.

Prospect rank: 59

3rd round: Cody Prewitt 6-2 212 FS Mississippi- I'm not a Decoud hater but the secondary slowly but surely needs upgrades. Prewitt plays on a very good ole miss team and could have potential. Who knows maybe he and Tre Boston could be the future at safety for us.

Prospect rank: 81

4th round- Ramik Wilson 6-2 232 OLBS Georgia- I know the Georgia defense isn't great but their linebackers are all very solid. The reason I went outside linebacker here is because Chase Blackburn is older and slow and AJ Klein is not the best athlete. Wilson is an athlete who's only major struggle is that he doesn't get off blocks well, which ironically was the same criticism of luuuuuke.

Prospect rank: 115

5th round- Josh Shaw 6-1 200 CB USC- I'm not sure how good or bad this guy really is but based on his measurables we could take a shot. Gettleman likes late round corners and he also likes bigger corners so maybe this guy could be it.

Prospect rank: 127

6th round Michael Dyer 5-9 215 RB Louisville- this guy has loads of talent but has had a troubled/ injury riddled college career. If he gets healthy his last year he could be a steal in the late rounds.

Prospect rank: 180

7th round Leon Brown 6-6 328 OG Alabama- Alabama offensive lineman definitely know how to run block which is something we desperately need. I'm not sold on amini at all and would like to see a completely revamped offensive line.

Prospect rank: 253

Hope you all enjoy let me know what is good, bad and what should be changed.

Pretty decent draft.  I like Prewitt a lot, and see him at strong safety.  I don't know about Shaw.  He's definitely going to be there in the late rounds, but I think we had our share of problem players.  They say lying is one of the worst offenses you can do in this league, and even now we don't know the full story behind his injuries to his feet/ankles.

Drango is def a favorite.

I'm just a little afraid of taking a Baylor OL due to the bust of Danny Watkins and looking like future bust: Cyril Richardson.

makes sense he was just the highest rated and we need a tackle I wouldn't mind if we waited till the second round for a tackle and got a safety or corner in the first.

I forgot he had those issues I tried to stay away from problem players so the next one I do he won't be in. Thanks for the heads up!

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
