No offense, but with the brutality that our backs can expect to face this year since every defense we face will be prepped and ready for em, he can take the rest of preseason off for all I care. The more rested and ready our backs are and the more experience Goodson can cram in the better. We'll need all those weapons firing at 100% when the season comes up.

his senior year at oregon he "suffered" with turf toe, an ankle sprain, a hand contusion and still rushed for over 1700 yards @ 6.2 ypc.

he didn't miss a single game.

in 2006, along with ankle injuries he had rib cartilage damage, a chest muscle strain, and a neck strain.

he still rushed for almost a 1000 yards @ 5.4 ypc...he contributed over 1700 all purpose yards.

his freshman year is when he suffered his ankle injury...before the injury he scored on an average of every 8x he touched the ball.

his high school numbers are absolutely insane. 7755 yards and 95 TDs in 4 seasons.

the ankle injury has slowed him down, but it hasn't hindered him as much as him being pampered by carolina.

even banged up, he's still better than most of the starting RBs in the league.

i could be wrong, but i don't think stewart's practiced most of his college career. some people are overreacting in the fact that it really isn't his injuries that are keeping him off the field.

it's the panthers' being too cautious.

do some research. some of you would be seriously surprised at the grocery list of injuries that many RBs are able to successfully play thru.

Remember late in the year he broke away for what should have been a sure TD

and cramped up from fatigue about 10 yards out? No way he could make it a full season carrying the rock full time like this.

I love me some Jstew... kids got all the talent, size and speed needed... but he's obv not very durable. And when it comes to power btwn the tackles RB's...t hat aint good!!!

It's gotta be a concern at this point. I fully expected him to be ready to go by now.

the heel soreness isn't really going to go away until he has enough time off, and that's just the way it is. If he was our primary back or we didn't have mike goodson, I'm sure he would be getting reps, but if we've got depth we might as well use it.

Is it possible that Fox could be holding him out just to be cautious or for goodson to get some reps to have a viable 3rd back when the season starts? Hasnt it beend documented that some players get time off to simply rest with x injury like when peppers had some sort of illness a few seasons ago.

I agree. JS was in camp on time last year and grasped very well what the Panthers do.

Now, rest him up. It's obvious if his toe wasn't an issue he wouldn't be sitting this much.

But now you get the luxury of getting Goodson tons of reps while rest your rock solid#2 guy.

There is no secret of my fandom for DWill, even back when everyone thought he was a bust...

I think he is just now starting on his run into history.

Folks wont realized how special he is, and how lucky we are to have him until he is done..

I would be concerned if he was still not practicing a week before the opener, but we're not we're a month away, so quit worrying and just enjoy the preseaon. Back in the day without twitter and the instant reporting you would never hear about stuff like this. Some times too much info can be a bad thing.
