Hurney scouting dt

I could see a situation where Kemo plus a corner, maybe Wilson or even Martin, plus a forth and seventh round pick could get us Dorsey. I would be okay with that. It would seem like we were giving up a lot but not really. And by getting Kemo's contract off of the cap that would also allow us to sign another DT for backup.

The only problem is that while KC might go for trading for an injuried player, they are in a total rebuilding mode, I don't think Clevlend would be so trading for Williams would be costlier on the draft picks.

Four players -- one drafted in the second round, one who was our best defensive tackle, and two more draft picks -- for Glenn Dorsey?

I know he's a great player and we need a good DT, but that sounds just a bit excessive.

To be honest I would think the more attractive corner would be Wilson not Martin but thats just me. As for giving up 4 players, yes it is a lot but would you rather give up a forth and a seventh or just a third. Is the number more important than the position or visa versa. You get the picture.

And as for Kemo. I was with stirs earlier in the offseason and thought trading Kemo was a good idea if we got a experienced player in return. Now this was before the draft and I was thinking Kemo for Kampman up in GB but the fact is we would have probably still been in the same situation at DT with that deal. But its hard to say that Kemo would be the best DT in this scheme. I'm confident that Jenkins would have been but it seemed to me that in a Cover or Tampa two the big DT has to get penetration as well as be a big wall so Kemo might not have fit. Who knows now. I just know that my opinon would be that a player like Dorsey or Williams would be a much better fit than Kemo. Just my opinion though but that makes a difference in what I feel we would be giving up in that trade.

Well I was stating kemo gettn traded next year. We can't trade him this year because he is on ir. I was just stating that if we could get williams this year and if need be trade for dorsey or a dt from this talented draft our dline could really be dominant. Also kemo restructured his contract and not only to save cap but took less guarenteed money while doing so. Kemo's contract is not a financial burden just ask carl carey!

Great analogy Kurb.

It is remarkable how naive un-informed a large portion of our fanbase is.

No, it is not a great analogy. The problem with Peppers' contract isn't his salary, it's how it effects the salalry cap. Normal ol' companies don't have such restrictions. If you get a $17M salary, there isn't a law stating the total amount your company can pay.
