Hurney scouting dt

I think it is possible that we could get him for a 4th. The Browns had to give up a 2nd, but thought they were getting a starting cog for the DL. Instead, they paid a high price for someone that doesn't fit their scheme, and is simply an out of position backup...an expensive backup, at that. So his value is not where it was when they traded for him.

Therefore, I could see them willing to dump him to free up a roster spot and get out from under almost 2 million in salary. Most likely, they would ask for a 3rd, but I'm not sure they would get that for him at this point. Although I also wouldn't be surprised to see a compromise of a 4th plus one of our young receivers or some other bubble guy.

brayton is fine in meeks system. he is much faster than you think and has the pursuit needed. he needs fast and aggressive DEs and brayton fits that bill. his experience makes him more valuable.

we can't afford to get rid of anymore experienced vets on that line. we need him around. he's much better against the run than most everyone we have.

I agree 100%. I think Brayton fits Meeks' system very well. Not to mention that next to Peppers, he is probably our best run defender at DE. If anything, Taylor would likely be the bait that would be dangled (although, not to the Browns since he really doesn't fit their scheme) since he has some potential and, barring injury, will be no better than our #5 DE.

I believe it's going to take more than a 4th 5th or 6th rounder. The Browns know we are in desperate need of a quality DT. I love Beason, but his comments didn't help any.

I don't think his comments did anything more than state the obvious. Every analyst and arm chair quarterback that knew anything about the panthers knew we were desperate for a starting dt after kemo went down. Thruth be told even if he hadn't gone down we would probably still be looking to upgrade the position. Despite the twitter frenzy this comment did little to if anything to change the leverage(or lack there of)we have.

Granted. But I still dont think it was necessary. I know he was speaking the truth. But I just dont think it is productive to place doubt into teammates minds.

i bet you we all hype over this guy..then we trade for some scrup DT we never heard of...lol

Sometimes HYPE should be spelled HOPE. Because I think that is what most are doing here...hoping that we can find some diamond to fill the gaping hole we have at DT. So any bit of positive news about a potential DT will be devoured by the masses, and discussed until an entire herd of horses have been beaten to death.

But you are probably right, we'll get all worked up over some guy most of us knew nothing about prior to some article tying him to the Panthers, and then the team will end up signing some unknown that didn't have the good fortune of having an article written about him. Thus, resulting in half the people initially screaming that we just screwed the pooch and got some bum that probably couldn't make the Lions...then after he gets the proper dose of hype, many of those same people will come back talking about how we just got a steal, and someone that could be a star in Meeks' defense.

Ganntt thinks we need to for Dorsey..

To me, the first call should go to Kansas City, to see what it would take to pry loose Glenn Dorsey. Not only is he a bad fit in a 3-4, but he's in new coach Todd Haley's doghouse.

Dorsey's a disruptive inside player, quick with the first step. That's what the Panthers are looking for.

Know this, somebody's coming, and they'd rather do it sooner than later.
