Hurney scouting dt

True but that's probably who they were looking at. I just don't know what we can give up to get him. I really like the guys we've got on the roster and I'm sure Hurnery does too, so it most certainly has to be a draft pick but a 3rd seems a little high for guy we are not sure could help right away.

i think its just speculation..the panthers have not mentioned corey williams the observer threw a name out there and everybody is running with it..for all we know hurney is looking at the scrub DT from the packers that wont make the 3-4 switch

He seems like an plausible option. He was traded from the Packers for a second rounder and via some quick research he had a 3 sack game as a DT. So this may be a case of a good player on a bad team.

I just want to make sure we grab someone who we know should win out the empty DT spot.

brayton is fine in meeks system. he is much faster than you think and has the pursuit needed. he needs fast and aggressive DEs and brayton fits that bill. his experience makes him more valuable.

we can't afford to get rid of anymore experienced vets on that line. we need him around. he's much better against the run than most everyone we have.

The Browns are set in most places on defense, they need a good 3-4 DE but their linebackers and secondary are good.

What they could really use is an offensive lineman, which we don't have to offer, or a good fullback, which I hope we don't offer.

I think if a trade is made it will be for a player, to free cap space, and a draft pick. I don't see it though--it would be sweet to get him and I would rather not get my hopes up. If he came here, he would immediately be our best DT and our line would go from a question mark to a strength immediately.

Just imagine Lewis and Williams both lined up in the one-technique--the run would go where we dictated and Beason and Davis would likely combine for close to 300 tackles.

Yeah that would be sweet. Williams is not only a run stuffer but he can penetrate the line on passing downs too. Thats how he got 7 sacks each year back in 06 and 07. If we get him and he picks up where he left off in 07, we may not need Kemo or Lewis anymore next season unless one of em is willing to take a pay cut and become a backup. As far as offering somone on the line...I think we could offer Vincent and we wouldn't suffer that much with Duke starting.
