according to this hurney was at the browns/packers game scouting one of the browns DTs. sounds like he listened to beason...

sry if this has been posted, i looked and didn't see anything about it

I was just about to post the same thing and according to the observer he was out to scout Corey Williams. I am extremely excited about this kid after I did a little research on him. He played at Green Bay in 07 and 06 and was an absolute beast. He had 7 sacks both years and Green Bay used the franchise tag on him after the 07 season then traded him to the Browns. He flopped with the Browns but only because he had to switch to a DE in the 3-4 and he also a a shoulder injury. He is listed at 6-4 324lbs although I think he slimmed down a little to play that DE spot, I've heard he was down to 310, he is also 28 years old and can play either DT position in the 4-3 system. Word is that Mangenius doesn't care for him because he doesn't fit well in the 3-4 and they would be willing to part with him.

If Williams could get back in the 4-3 with Peppers, Johnson, Brown, Brayton, and Lewis then I think he could get back to the 45 tackle 7 sack seasons he had with Green Bay. Oh and don't forget the quality linebackers he would be protecting, Beason could run around again and make a ton of plays. Can you imagine the impact he would have on this defense, how drastically we would improve overnight??? I'm telling you, if Hurney can pull this off it could potentially be even better than the Chris Harris trade. I would be willing to part with a 4th or 5th rounder for this guy.

True but that's probably who they were looking at. I just don't know what we can give up to get him. I really like the guys we've got on the roster and I'm sure Hurnery does too, so it most certainly has to be a draft pick but a 3rd seems a little high for guy we are not sure could help right away.

Thats a very good point. I couldn't find it anywhere else except Charlotte Observer, not even on the cleveland news paper mentione in the report. Williams didn't start against the Packers and only played about 3 plays on the first couple series. Not sure if it is him but I guess he makes the most sense out of anybody. I wish the Observer would follow up with their freakin story. Anyways, a 4th or 5th round pick for a backup who they might release anyways is a pretty fair deal I would say.
