Greg Cosell's Week 5 analysis: Cam Newton's improvement is clear

Wilson thrives on disorder. He is lol looking to scramble so defensive backs can uncover and he can deliver the ball. He's not going to beat u by surveying the field and reading the defense. Ironically, the way to beat Wilson is keep him in the pocket. Other that or he'll run.

Lol at thinking Wilson can't survey a field and read a defense. You don't get his kind of passing stats +60% completion, great TD - INT ratio, +100 QB Rating, etc etc being a one read scrambler.

It's important to note just how much of a role Marshawn Lynch has had in Wilson's success with the Seahawks.

Could say the same thing with just about any QB. ie They either have a good D, good WR, good RB, good OL, great OC, etc etc.

I'm surprised people still think of wins as an individual stat.

No one thinks of wins as purely an individual stat. However the QB has the greatest impact on the game and is usually the leader of the team (esp on O). Thus wins and losses will factor heavily into people's outlook on said player.

Yes you actually can, throwing screens and bootlegs. Those always give u a high comp %.

Well I guess you need to find the % of plays SEA and CAR does those screens and bootlegs and get back to us.

Additionally, wouldn't the D key in on said plays if said QB can not read / survey the D?

He is at his best when he gets the ball out of his hand quickly, and quick slants, rub routes and plays into the blitz seem to be what he likes to use a lot of the time. When he is forced to stand on the spot, he seems to get jumpy and uncomfortable and wants to leave the pocket early -- even when there isn't pressure.

Not to blow my horn but I made this observation before Prisco wrote this article. Read and enjoy.

If you had bothered to read the article, you would have seen the breakdown of plays from 4 different games to back his argument but I bet you'll rather your opinion over data.

If you are trying to use said point you will need to actually show how many times SEA and CAR run those plays for comparison and also answer to the notion of opposing D's knowing Wilson can not read / survey a D and keying in on said plays.

Something more than handpicking plays from 4 games lol.

If you could not read a simple article, why would I waste my time to do that research to prove anything to you? What am I to gain?

But they lost those 5-6 games the year before Luck got there, no?

They had an incompetent QB that season. They won the division then year before that.

No one is saying Luck is incompetent.

Anyone watching this game right now can't reasonably believe the Texans are even an average football team right now

You think the Texans suck? I think Luck is making them look average. At this point I concede the Luck vs Cam debate. Luck is a baller!
