Greg Cosell's Week 5 analysis: Cam Newton's improvement is clear

Kaepernick & Wilson are so far behind Cam as a pocket passer it isn't even funny. They both either throw a quick screen, hit their 1st target, or immediately start scrambling.

Once both of these guys have to mask the team's holes because of big contracts, we will see how good they really are compared to Cam.

Wilson had 3 guys in his face the moment he snapped the ball last night and somehow managed to get just outside the hash to chunk it.

That is really only thing I wish Cam would improve.

If you look at that play, Okung held Orakpo right as Wilson bailed out of the pocket.  He had him dead to rights.  It was an obvious hold, because he was beat but the ref didn't see it.  Great veteran move.  If its a jail break, with our o-line Cam is going to get hit if he doesn't do something spectacular.  The moves he put on last year in the Atlanta game to find SS for a first down is something Wilson couldn't do.  He did that all on his own.

Wilson is superior at avoiding sacks. Sorry but he is.

He killed us last year on 3rd and long late in the game.

that is highly debatable

and that's just one of the 3 years we've seen Cam.

What i noticed thought on that big run by wilson monday night. He had a guy WIDE fuging OPEN down the middle of the field that would have went for a td.

Wilson is a beast and he is my second favorite qb in the league. but saying he is "superior" is false. Ive seen Wilson take some terrible sacks as well. Its what you get with these types of qbs. they take a horrible sack or they have a first down run or in cams case a 72 yard td.

I don't think Cam has had a run of 20 yds + off the top of my head in 2 years.

Yes you take the good with the bad. That's pretty much life in general.

but yea of course. I'm just saying i watch RW every chance i get because i like his "baseball" playing style. And he takes some horrific sacks too. He is a master escape artist though too.

Lets not be homers. Wilson is a better QB right now than Cam. Cam has more potential and is a darn good QB himself. But Wilson is just insane when it comes to playing within himself, not making mistakes, evading pressure, and making things happen with his legs AND arm.

Ha

Haha

Hahaha

Hahahaha

Hahahahahahaha

Newton is a superior run threat.

I might concede that Wilson could be better at hitting receivers while on the run, but it wouldn't be by much.

We can't so no need to even do that.

Are you incapable of objectively critiqued Cam when you see it? Are you on his payroll or something?

The context of my post response to p55 is what to improve. Which I said was ONE thing. One. Some of you guys I swear are borderline infatuated.

I should have also added, with no Marshawn Lynch either.

No, we cannot obviously literally put him behind the Panthers OL, but we can use common sense, and apply it. At the end of the day, no quarterback can do it all himself. These guys are all human, and they need role players helping them, or at the very least a reasonable OL.

As for the rest of your post, I expected a little more from you than a canned response about being a Cam homer. Nowhere in my post did I insinuate that he was perfect, or above any criticism. I don't think it was a difficult post to understand, but whatever floats your boat.

Hey pstall, can you at least have some sort of facts to back up claims if you insist on blasting people for supposedly being homers?

Just a thought.

Facts and I was blasting people for being homers?

Make up your mind what im doing senor condescending.

Are there not guys here who are close to being legally blind with Cam? That would be yes.

I didn't single you out as being a blind homer so why you put that shoe on is beyond me.

I closed the book in my first response to you. The key word was context. Go back and read what p55 and said. Somehow you leapt to Olympian levels over what I said.

And believe me. If I blast you it will be crystal clear.

Wilson is just better than Cam (or at least preformed better regardless of circumstances) and there is really no disputing that (at this point in their careers)

Career QB Rating

Wilson - 102 (Never had below a 100 in any point in his career)

Cam - 87 ( Never been been over 100 in any point of his career, even with how well he is playing this year he is still below 100 at 94.6)

Career Completion %

Wilson - 64%

Cam - 59%

TD's (Both Passing & Rushing) Since 2012 (When both were playing)

Wilson - 66

Cam - 62

Rushing Average

Wilson - 5.6

Cam - 5.5

Interceptions Since 2012

Wilson - 20

Cam - 26

Win / Loss Record Since 2012

Wilson  31 - 10

Cam 21 - 16

Superbowl Rings

Wilson - 1

Cam - 0

Now this doesn't mean Cam can't eclipse him. Both a darn good young QB's. But right now Wilson is just on a different level.
