Greg Cosell's Week 5 analysis: Cam Newton's improvement is clear

The problem with running quarterbacks is there’s little continuity. Offensive coaches hate that. When coaches call a play they don’t know what they’re gong to get.

This is the issue that most people clamoring for a running QB don't realize. When it gets down to crunch time and you don't have a good running game, who are you going to rely on? That is the reason Luck is succeeding in IND without a run game. That is the reason most people still claim without a running game Wilson will not be a good QB. I mean SEA won last night but I was wondering why all those penalties? Some can be attributed to the fact that you have no idea where your QB is and just have to do extra including holding etc. That offense was so disorganized. They have a speedy WR in Harvin but have u wondered why all he is limited to is the jet sweep?

Another example will be Vick. He was consistently being hit when he was in philly. All of a sudden, a pocket QB in Foles comes in and then philly's oline miraculously becomes one of the better ones in the league. It's no coincidence. Having a running QB who is not a pocket passer offers the offense no consistency whatsoever for linemen and WRs alike.

1.  Cam isn't sailing balls anywhere close to the rate he had been since he's come into the league.

2.  Except for KB's off days he has receivers with much more consistent hands which allow him to trust his WRs.

3.  I am glad that he is becoming more of a pocket passer.  He has the instincts to do it, but he's a fantastic athlete which means he wants to put too much on his shoulders.  I believe that a good offensive line will only allow him more time to make better reads.

4.  What's even more miraculous is that he's doing this with a minimal run game.

5.  I think if he stays in the pocket more, he will extend his career a couple more years because he won't be hit as often hopefully.

I Mean He Was Found Guilty, memories of Michael Vick carving up our defense like a turkey year in and year out still makes me sick to my stomach.  Only person who could routinely catch him was Peppers and even then there were a good number of times that Vick made Peppers look silly.

i think panther fans are more familiar than most with what a mobile quarterback can do against a gassed defense at the end of a game:

Was at this game and his knee fu#@$## hit before he crossed the goal line.  GD Michael Vick!!!!

Vick was a big part of the reason they drafted Thomas Davis, so it all worked out OK in the end.

greg is cool cause he actually ANALYZES what the fug hes talking about instead of talking out of his ass.

"Yeah Im on NFL Network so everything I sayshould be unquestioned even though its my short sighted lazy ratings opinion" -NFL Network, (or ESPN) Analysist.

"Hey This is my opinion because i heard it on TV earlier. Yeah trent dilfer said.. cam is.. " -retard mouth breather NFL fan.
