NCFAN's too Early mock

Post Cleveland

going into this offseason we need to look to lock down the trenches.  Protect our franchise QB and try to get a little something out of our huge cash cow RB's.  Get back to our strength at DL

FA:

JPP- Since Hardy left our DL has dropped big time.  Ealy isn't quiet there yet but has shown some flashes.  CJ's contract is a big chunk and may be gone the next year or 2 to trim some fat.  JPP allows us to use that option with CJ and immediately brings our strength back.

Bruce Carter-  Kid has shown some flashes in Dallas.  Playing under Rivera in addition to playing beside Luke and TD could tap that potential and unlock a monster.  Would make for a perfect future replacement for TD when he leaves as well.

Hakeem Nicks- yes this name again.  Kid has done nothing to improve his stock being 3rd or 4th WR in Indy.  We could get him Cheap, Allow him to come home and try to get his career back on track.

*If we could some how open up some room (cutting Dwill and possibly CJ) and add BJ Raji to this list would be great but doubtful

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Draft:

1st:  Ereck Flowers-  Has the ability to be a great LT to protect our franchise QB.  Big uglies.  Look at the teams that made Huge improvements this year.  Looked to fix the OL.

2nd: Tyrus Thompson- We haven't had that big dominant presence on the right side since Otah pre injury.  Stewie has looked great this year when healthy.  If we can get the OL built back up, our run game could get rolling fast.  Good Run game is a QB's best friend.  Ask Romo this year.  Thompson beside Turner will have our RB's drooling.

3rd: Antwan Goodley- Big Short compact WR who is a deep threat.  Injuries and a slow start plus another deep WR class will cause him to fall down the boards.  Another big Physical tool for Proehl to work with.

4th:  Laken Tomlinson- Our rookie Guards have looked to be grooming up good as of late.  But we really need to build Depth.  Tomlinson a local prospect has the the tools to be a good LG.  Really could see him pushing and taking over the LG spot over Norwell.  Which wouldn't be a great thing.  If we can keep improving the OL and have a guy like Norwell sitting back as Depth, we will be in good shape.

5th:  Terry Williams.  Another local prospect.  Star's biggest question when coming into the league was how many snaps could he play because he could get fatigue.  Last year our top D was not on the field that much.  This year with our defensive struggles.  The long drives people have put on us combined with our offense failures has kept our D on the field.  You can tell a Big difference in Stars game this year.  Bringing Williams in to Spare Star a few snaps will be Big.

6th:  Michael Dyer-  Cam's old running mate from Auburn.  Could be a good replacement for Dwill at #2 RB beside Stewie.

7th: Would love to throw this pick out to Jax for Blackmon.  Really how often do 7th round picks turn out to do much for us.  The reward is bigger than the risk for us here.  If anyone could get him back on the right track it would be this organization.  Really could see Cam take him under his wing.  Ricky could get him back on track on the field.  If no Blackmon go BPA here

2015:

QB: Cam, DA

RB: Stewie, Dwill, Dyer

FB: Tolbert

WR: Benjamin, Brown

WR: Nicks, Goodley

TE: Olson, Williams

LT: Flowers

LG: Tomlinson/Norwell

C: Kalil

RG: Turner/Amini

RT: Tyrus Thompson

DE: JPP

DT: Star, Williams

DT: KK

DE: CJ, Ealy

OLB: TD

MLB: Luke

OLB: Klein/Carter

CB: Bene

FS: Boston

SS: FA

CB: Norman

If a RB goes top 6 in the draft, my brain will explode.

Two could go top 10. Gordon and Gurley are TD machines. Teams are looking for guys who can carry an offense and take it the distance. Both of these guys can. Id be ecstatic to get one where were gonna draft.

Favorite players in the draft so far are definitely Gurley and Gordon. I don't even care if we have a ton of money tied into RBs...they are for the most part non-factors. Gettlemen has made a habit of drafting BPA.

Have to see how the OTs project bc that position and CB are two areas we need to shore up. It'd be nice to get a corner that is special.

look, I think Gurley is one of the best RB prospects in years. Him having time off from playing is actually going to be a good thing, too, since it'll help him heal up to 110% and get him ready for the combine. But, I find it almost impossible to believe that a RB is going in the top 20, much less that top 5. RBs just don't go that high anymore. Especially considering that this draft could include Mariota, Winston, AND Petty. That's not even including guys like Peat and Ogbuehi.

Gurley will go top8-10!!!!

People wanna run their mouths about how this is a pass first offend now, but at the end of the day we all know the formula to winning a SB: ability to run the ball and plays defense.

How is it, when someone disagrees with you, they're "running their mouth". That shows your insecurity, honestly.

This mock draft is soley based on needs, where I see players ending up after the season, combine, pro day, etc, and how we finish on the season.  Hate to say it, but I see us drafting players around the 10th-15th area.  Our terrible o-line, no running game, poor receiver play, and an awful secondary will not help us win this year, sorry.

RD 1 - Brandon Scherff, OT, Iowa

RD 2 - Justin Hardy, WR, East Carolina

RD 3 - Mike Davis, RB, South Carolina

RD 4 - Preston Smith, DE, Mississippi State

A few notes, I believe we fix our secondary issues through free agency.  Even though we will probably draft a few DB's late (rounds 5-7).  I think we release Hardy and focus on Cam's and Luke's contracts.  Everyone needs to go easy on Ealy though.  People expect him to play like Hardy when he's just a rookie.  It's going to take some time for him to make the transition from college to the pros.  Anyways, I think we focus on the offense early.  WE HAVE TO TAKE AN OT IN THE FIRST.  Our o-line is God awful, we need better players and depth.  Justin Hardy is an absolute stud a WR, lacks a bit in szie, but he's a beast.  Mike Davis is D. Williams 2.0.

  • 3 weeks later...

No thanks.  If Cooper is there, he needs to be ours.  No DE in the first unless it's a Peppers/Mario Williams type prospect.  I've heard La'el Collins is slipping.  I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell Shula stays.  I don't know much about the rest of the guys listed, so I won't comment on them.
