O-Line\No Huddle

I just have this feeling that Shula, and Rivera, trust Cam to complete the majority of his passes on 3rd down. It gives them an out for calling those pesky running plays.

But...We have been throwing the ball on 1st down more this year. So I guess I am confused as to what they really are trying to do.

We run, run, pass. We pass, run, run. We are slow and methodical, then go hurry upish. Maybe Shula is trying to confuse the Defense by doing so many different things?

All I know for sure is, Cam is having a remarkable year. Let him throw the ball a little more. Scoring points is probably just as good, if not better, than Time of Possession. Cuz we aren't a quick strike Offense even when we throw the ball.

Ah hellz, I'm too confused to know what I don't know.

I think we are throwing more now out of necessity.  Our O line seems to better in pass blocking than run blocking and we don't have any backs that are game changers who are healthy.  I suspect if Shula had his way we would still be running the ball more but he is savvy enough to know that you have to do what either the defense is giving you or what you are able to do well.  In either case right now that is to pass to set up the run.

From what I see the hurry up in the first half has been more out of necessity due to time expiring.  In the second half we ran it by design as part of the team's half time adjustments based on what was working.  Given the success to this point I suspect we are going to see it more as part of our offensive package but obviously they are not going to announce it.  No huddle not only catches teams in sometimes unfavorable matchups but prevents most from playing more than a base defense as it is harder to call plays and certain blitzs for example when the other team is using the hurry up.

Points are the only thing that counts but obviously having a sustained drive and scoring a TD in the process is the ultimate outcome.
