Cam thrives in the No huddle

We can't always do it because it puts more plays and minutes on our defense. Time of possession was 32min to 27min. We have to win time of possession a lot with the type of team we have.

We need to go up by three touchdowns, then play the time of possession game.

I've always thought Cam is a much more instinctual player.  The less he has to think the better.  That's not an insult to Cam.  I play a lot of golf and the thing that messes me up the most is not getting out of my own way.  If I have time to think about how I'm going to mess up a shot there a much bigger chance I'm going to mess up that shot.

The no-huddle allows Cam to just play football and doesn't give him time to analyze or worry or over think a situation.

But scoring more also takes pressure off of the defense. I see no issue with doing something that generates more points, even if it does cost a couple of minutes in the TOP column.

yes and no. Just because we run the no huddle doesn't mean we can't run the clock down a few times in a drive as Cam audibles at the line a-la Peyton Manning.

Let's also be real the reason it seem like we're still running clock in our no huddle is offensive mistakes. Like dropping passes, penalties, or miss blocking assignments that cause the offense to stall before Cam makes a incredible throw that keeps a drive going.

Shula's offenses have always had a tough time either finding or keeping a rhythm. Maybe giving Cam a number of plays to run and just letting him go with it is the way to go. Sure did seem that way yesteday, huh?

Shula is a hard guy to figure out, sometimes his play calling is perfection and other times he looks like he's letting madden pick his plays.

I see it as a asset like the "read option" to be use as a change of pace or added dimension but not a full time offensive philosophy.

Always seems like the O-Line gets better pass protection when we go no huddle, probably because the defense gets no time to make substitutions, keeping their defense on the field but stopping them getting changes and going no huddle could also help open up the running game if we can wear down their defensive line

Right. I do think, however, that it needs to come out well before the team has their back against the wall.

yes but it will also put the same pressure on the other teams D (assuming we are efficient and score) as the other team would have to speed things up as well to keep pace.

and I will take our D over the other teams D every time with maybe the exception of say SEA or SF.
