Cam thrives in the No huddle

Nice article I just found. Exactly how I was feeling watching the game yesterday. We have to let Cam go and do his thing.

Cam Newton, Panthers thrive in no-huddle offense http://es.pn/1Ekatue -via SportsCenter http://es.pn/scappandroid

i think we should start games running the no huddle and letting Cam basically call his own plays. then as we build a lead, slow down the pace and let our defense rest. this hinges on the defense playing lights out in the first half. if that cant happen, then the no huddle might do more harm than good. one thing is for sure... they need to take the reigns off of Cam. the kid needs to be able to call his own plays and needs to be able to run the ball when he feels like it

We can't always do it because it puts more plays and minutes on our defense. Time of possession was 32min to 27min. We have to win time of possession a lot with the type of team we have.

yes and no. Just because we run the no huddle doesn't mean we can't run the clock down a few times in a drive as Cam audibles at the line a-la Peyton Manning.

''The no-huddle offense has been our edge,'' said Newton

''He's pretty good at it,'' Olsen said. ''It's been good for us this year. Sometimes certain situations dictate that you can't stay in it, but when we've done it we've been pretty successful. When we need a spark we can go to it. And it seems like it does spark us.'' Greg Olsen

"We rediscovered a lot of things," head coach Ron Rivera said. "That was probably the best part." Rivera

It's sounds like everybody is getting on board with this no huddle. Obviously, you can't do it all game, but this could be our thing. HOw many times have people on this board say that Cam thrives in the no huddle up tempo offense? The no huddle seems to be trending upwards, so hopefully we do it more this year. Cam thrives in it and it seems to fit our whole offense.

Also, a lot of people think no huddle, and automatically assume "fast paced" offense.  That's not the case, unless you specifically make it the case, which we don't.

Shula's offenses have always had a tough time either finding or keeping a rhythm. Maybe giving Cam a number of plays to run and just letting him go with it is the way to go. Sure did seem that way yesteday, huh?

My friend and I were discussing this during the game yesterday.  Seems like every time it's put in Cam's hands, something good happens.  He finds a lot of success running the no huddle, playing the game the way he sees it on the field.  He's a much smarter QB than he gets credit for.

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
