Did Luke have 75 tackles today?

if you paid attention to the game you would have seen a handful of plays where there's a dump off to forte and he doesn't gain a yard before luke gets him down. go look at forte stats, rewatch this game with them in mind and then come back and eat crow

That's what they're paid to do. If they can't do that they'd be my co-worker. They shouldn't get praised unless they turn the ball over to their offense.

that's dumb. So when a team goes three and out that's no accomplishment for the defense because it wasn't a turnover? You do realize tackling some of these players isn't the easiest thing in the world.. And it's not only the fact the Luke tackles them, but he is literally involved in just about every play, either he's making the tackle or he's there ready to make the tackle is his teammate misses it.

A 1-2 yard gain on 3rd &1 is a 1st down. Anything pass the LOS is his job. Him getting pass the OL and making those tackles behind the LOS is a feat.

wow. You do realize he can't just blitz everytime right? Sometimes he has to drop back in coverage. If you think giving up 1-2 yards a play is bad you must have seen some amazing defenses.

Our D was on skate for 2 weeks in our losses. We win a game then it's Kuechly machine. How about a kudos to the team for once.

I'm sure Kuechly will get his shines in future games. But this was a team not giving up kind of effort. Nobody in particular had a monster game.

it was a great team effort. But kuechly was a huge part. He's the leader of the defense. He makes the reads and adjustments on the field. If you watch the game you see him directing and communicating with his teammates before every play. When we Lost, poeple were criticizing him for not having the defense ready and and leading them. So if he's gonna take a lot of blame for losing.. He should get praise when we win. Especially with a solid performance like he had.

Boooooooo

Enough with all these Kuechly every-time-we-win-after-the-game threads. Tackles should only count when it's made in the back field for a lost or no gain. Just like sacks. A DB tackling a WR on a 50 yard completion is not a great play. Tackling the RB after a 10 yard gain should not count as a tackle. The game of defense is about sacks and INTs. Unless there is a score there is a tackle in almost every possession. It's not something rare or difficult to get.

Come on guys, let's pretend we understand the game like those other fan-bases in storied franchises. Even I can fall on top of a pile and get myself a piece of tackle. lol

That's the MLB's job. They're freelancers for the most part in a 4-3. Unless you're stopping the ball in the backfield for a no gain you shouldn't get credit or overly praised for your tackles. That goes for every player. Tackles are only abundant for MLBs because that's the route of the RBs, in the middle.

Nothing wrong with praising the guy when he causes fumbles, INTs, or tackle someone behind the LOS. But for total tackles, come on now. INTs were made, TDs were caught, etc. for us to have won the game today. Don't wanna hear about tackles. lol

I get what you're saying (sort of), but my take on the OP was more about Luke's overall play and athleticism today, not his tackle total.  It's a gauge on how well our MLB is doing his job.

Following your logic, we shouldn't get excited when some busts a big run, makes an acrobatic one-handed catch in the endzone, or recognize a guy who usually gets one or two catches a game break out and have a 100 yard day because that's their job; that's what they're suppose to do.  I don't understand or agree with that logic.

Great defenses rush the passer and defend the pass. You don't hear people talking about how many tackles MLBs in Seattle get. You guys make Kuechly sound like a novelty act. Yay, he made a tackle! Come on now. The media use tackle numbers only to hype players up when they have no other things to attribute to them. Enough of this if-we-win-Kuechly-must-have-done-something-great.

All I'm saying is that tackling is just doing your job. INTs, sacks, fumbles are additional things beyond your job. What is a MLB who doesn't tackle? Me, sitting on my couch. What is a DE or CB who doesn't cause turn overs? A football player. Can't keep praising a player for just doing their assignment.

Such an idiot.
