K. Short is a Monster

I don't know about this game because I wasn't home when it started, but it seems like KK is not a starter out there on defense.  The staff made this mistake with Kuechly when he first started playing.  They kept Beason in the middle, and brought Kuechly on and off the field as an OLB.  We got to stop being so stupid as a coaching staff.  Play your best players, and play them for the majority of the snaps.  I see Star getting double teamed a lot of plays, so can you imagine both him and KK starting and playing for a majority of the snaps?  Come on staff, you can't be that stupid.  Put this man in the starting lineup.

doesn't matter if he is listed as the starter or not. he gets the majority of the snaps (i think) and is for all intents and purposes our starting/primary/whatever under tackle.

I don't know if he gets a majority of the snaps.  A lot of times I see Dwan's number flashing across the screen.  I think Rivera shuffles the DTs a lot, probably bringing in Short on certain passing downs.  I want to see Short start with Lotulelei, and both of them get a majority of the snaps.  We already seen this season where Short blows up the O-line and bringing down runners for a loss.  He can do it all.

i remember seeing some statistics posted on here about how he gets the majority of the snaps despite not being the official starter. dwan edwards is a pretty good player, so i have no complaints with him getting PT. keeping all of them fresh is more important than one guy getting most of the PT anyways, IMO.

I'm rewatching the game now (condensed) and one thing that's jumping out at me is how alert Short is on the screen dumps.  The third quarter has just started and I've already seen Short on at least 3 screen plays immediately recognize that he's intentionally not being blocked and he immediately tracks the RB.  On two of the plays he makes a quick impact (either the tackle or redirecting the RB giving the other players a chance to get there before any gain).  It's just amazing to me how quickly he's learned.  He's been playing like a vet since the year started.

I don't really follow college ball at all, and my pre-draft research is usually limited to first round guys, so Short was a total unknown to me.

After watching him on just one play last preseason, it was obvious he was going to be a star. Sounds crazy, because one play usually tells you nothing, but in this instance he just exploded off the line and was in the backfield almost instantly. You just knew after watching that one play we had a special player.

Everyone wants to talk about Star, and he is very good, but I firmly believe Short will prove to be our best selection from that draft.
