What agenda would Voth have?

And don't bother saying he's sucking up to the team because he's never shyed away from reporting negative stories about the team.

again not referring to voth, was redwing to smith and there too many variables to even come up with a theory about this. Example what if smith and both didn't get along.....in the case here what if smith is being a sour puss or it could be that smith feels he's needs to set the story straight.

Again it's just a bunch of speculation from both sides

You're really reaching to believe Smith here.

Doesn't matter. The Panthers didn't handle their business, so they opened themselves up to questions about their own behavior in regards to the situation. If they had handled the situation better, then if Smith acted out he wouldn't have had a leg to stand on.

You may not agree, but in the eyes of the NFL world, the Panthers look much worse than Smith does in this situation.

Yeah The eyes of major media outlets such as ESPN who are out for a story. Money.

The point is whether Voth was telling the truth or not, the fact remains that the organization should have handled Smitty better.  Some of you are trying to act like this is about who is telling the truth. It's not.  I believe that they are both telling pieces of the story to fit their own needs, but the bottom line is that organizations don't treat, and have never treated franchise leaders like the Panthers treated Smitty.  Voth's opinion is not more valid than anyone else's when it comes to this matter. All the inside information in the world won't change the fact that G-man should have told Smitty in his exit interview that the team was moving in a different direction...period!

As for the NFL world, you can talk about the ESPN and the rest of the media all you want (cherry picking who and what you want to believe from the very media you are ridiculing), but there are many fans of other teams who think not only that Smitty was treated wrongly by G-man, but that the Panthers were stupid for getting rid of him.

Edit: And like I said before, it's not about picking Voth over anyone, it's about having an opinion. The choosing Voth thing is a red herring that I addressed many posts ago.

So it doesn't matter who's telling the truth but Steve Smith is right about how he was treated?

Wouldn't that kind of require that Smith be telling the truth?

I guess facts don't really matter.  It's how you feel about Smith that counts.

Voth never said that Smith was informed in person after the season that he was getting axed.  Giving someone some type of nebulous verbal warning before and/or during the season does not constitute giving them a pink slip. If you're firing someone, unless you're a pussy, you usually call them in and discuss their progress or lack thereof after written warnings and do the deed. I  guess you just want to continue glossing over that part.

From the original discussion...

- Says that there was indeed a meeting with Gettleman where he was told he would be cut

Not that I expect that'll change anything given that your last several posts have essentially come down to "It doesn't matter what actually happened or what anybody says. Steve Smith is still right."
