does david glenn really have any contacts inside the panthers? i've known his NFL coverage to be fair and unbiased if generalized and not particularly nuanced. his bread and butter is being a walking ACC encyclopedia and if he was saying this stuff about, say, tar heels basketball it'd carry a lot more weight.

Because he has never developed any or claimed any. He used to have some decent sources around NC high schools and colleges back in the day when he was a recruiting guru, but now he is just an opinion talk show host. He doesn't even have great sources in triangle anymore like he used to.

you're jumping to conclusions never said what smith stated was fact.......every post I stated about the situation included "if smith is telling the truth" at the end. My point is those two know the real story and the truth will either never come out or surface years later......my opinion is dg doesn't know how to be professional when handling business. Yours seems to be smith act as a spoiled child during the situation. Again both opinions that can't be proven as facts.....that's my only point

Smitty's phone call is pretty strong evidence for my opinion.

I'd also add that Voth's opinion is much more informed by facts than anything fans say. He's citing specific events. Those events happen to contradict Smith's story.

that may be true but at the end of the day it's a guy who was actually there and a guy reporting from the outside, hard to determine who's telling the truth

Darin Gantt basically said that everyone who knew Smith should not be surprised by Smith having a great game and burning bridges. He said that Smith shouldn't have taken things so personally, but that Gettleman should have handled the situation better as well.

He specifically said that people are always throwing the Jerry Rice and Joe Montana argument around, but he basically said that it's apples and oranges because those guys were notified privately and had time to make the transition within their minds, whereas Smith didn't.

Both Gantt and Glenn basically said that it was OK to move on from Smith, but that Gettleman should have handled the situation befitting of the franchise legend that Smitty was (is).

That's what I and others had been saying all along.

Basically Gettles didnt want to get suckerpunched in s meeting room. =D
