Former Bears GM admits mistake in trading Olsen

Four years later, Jerry Angelo - the Bears' general manager who pulled the trigger on the Olsen deal - looked back at the trade in advance of the Bears' meeting with Olsen and the Panthers in Carolina Sunday.

"He's met [expectations]," Angelo said on the "Kap and Haugh Show" Wednesday. "It was a mistake to trade him. I understand he wasn't the ideal fit in the scheme, but we let our best receiver go. Obviously, it was Cutler's favorite receiver at the time, and we let him out the door.

"That's on me. I understand what the coaches were saying, but you don't let your best player - one of your better players - out the door. Everything he's doing hasn't surprised me. He's an excellent player, particularly in the passing game. He's Newton's favorite target. I'm happy for Greg; he's not only a great player, but a great kid. Like Matt Forte, [he has] an insatiable work ethic."

Making me more pissed off at knowing how poorly we are utilizing Olsen!!!!!

Olsen always start the game hot, and then we decide to not look his way throughout the game for whatever fuggn reason!

it's no mistake that when we start getting hot in a game it seems to be when olsen's getting fed the ball multiple times on the same drive. dude is integral to what we try to do.

that said, he's on track to break 1000 yards this year… i'm not sure he's being underutilized.

Shula didn't even look his way vs. Baltimore
