Kelvin Benjamin named NFL Offensive Rookie for September

Yeap

Even Gettleman said he was the most polished WR prospect overall.

He just has to get on the field first

yea OBJ has been dealing with a nasty hammy injury. but i called this success for KB before the draft. you do not see the field for Jimbo, if you do not know what you are doing. you can tell by his route technique he wasn't some raw WR like the media and some fans portrayed.

It just goes to show you once again, when you get stuck in that NFL draft hoopla and you're looking up 70 mock drafts every day, you can easily overlook guys like KB whose stock was all but downtrodden for first round pick consideration. KB was either considered too raw at the position (compared to Sammy Watkins or Odell Beckham) or not talented enough (compared to Mike Evans) to be a first round pick

Right now he leads all of them in yards lol

It was hard to understand why he was so low in the mock drafts. I only saw KB in the Clemson - FSU game and just a little in the title game.  Did he have several bad games in the interim? Because it was clear to anybody watching he was going to be an NFL stud just based on those two games.

I think the main knocks on him were that he was inconsistent, as well as raw. We're seeing a few problems with the drops just like he had in FSU at times, but we're also seeing some spectacular catches like we'd seen other times at FSU.

Then there were other factors that came into play. One being that it was a deep WR draft, and two, WR is one of those positions that showed that it requires an adjustment more than other positions, especially recently. Gettleman likes him because he had measurables, and many people don't know this, but he's a big reason the Giants brought in Plaxico Burress. Eli is a solid QB, at least he was anyways, but Burress made him look even better because of his wingspan and reach. I knew the minute Gettleman drafted him where he was going with it.

I feel like we're about halfway to an intimidating WR core. I'd like to see us bring in another monster WR, and also maybe a smaller slot guy with break neck speed we can use for end arounds, screens, and just move him all over the field to create mismatches.

But I also realize we are in cap hell.

i really do hope this doesn't wind up one of those seasons where we have nothing to look forward to but individual stats.

props to KB though.  he earned the award this past month.  so far he's proving a lot of doubters wrong...myself included.  i always thought KB would turn out to be a great redzone and possession type of threat, but so far he looks like he has all the tools to be a top flight #1.  great get at 28 (or wherever it was, late 20s).

Coincidentally, CB Kyle Fuller named Defensive Rookie of the Month. I think he'll be matched up with KB for most, if not all, of the game. Should be an intriguing matchup.

Someone posted a couple days ago.  Michael Irvin said about KB.  You can defend in all directions except Up.  KB is a beast and is only gonna get better.

Go Panthers

    • Cutting edge analysis below https://www.nfl.com/news/daniel-jeremiah-s-top-50-2025-nfl-draft-prospect-rankings-4-0 You gotta remember, Daniel Jeremiah talks to the scouts and GMs..... Notable highlights: #1 Abdul Carter (Edge) #2 Travis Hunter (WR/CB) #3 Ashton Jeanty (RB) #4 Mason Graham (DT) #5:  Jalon Walker (LB) #6 Tyler Warren (TE) #7  Coltson Loveland (TE) #15 Nick Emannwori (S) #22 Mykel Williams (Edge) #32 Mason Taylor (TE--3 TEs in round 1????) WR rankings (oh my!!  This is going to piss some folks off--I don't think a slot WR--Egbuka--should be in the middle of round 1, personally) #16 Matthew Golden (told ya this a month ago!!--you mocked me, some scoffed) #17  Emeka Egbuka (the sleeper we have not talked about enough!) #18  Tetairoa McMillan (according to the NFL Network Path to the Draft Crew-Ross, Brooks, Charles-the comments may have hurt his stock among GMs--I do think it might be a bit overblown, but hey, he raised the red flag--nobody else.  I am sure he will explain his meaning to satisfy GMs) #33 Luther Burden III (he has dropped quite a bit) Noteable Edges NOT in top 50, which means they could be there in the second:  Jack Sawyer, Princely. and my super sleeper pick who could be there in round 3--Josaiah Stewart, Michigan. MHS PREDICTIONS: It sure looks like #5 Jalon Walker Edge will be the pick---Mykel Williams dropped to #22. Most of the players we draft on days 1 and 2 will have a first name that starts with the letter J.
    • I feel like all the guys i think they're going to take will be gone. Graham and walker plus Carter who has no chance. If that's the case I really hope someone wants to jump the saints and we can trade back. I would want Green if he didn't have the accusations
    • I think with walker you have a pretty stable and decent floor.   With some of the others the floor is lower but yeah the ceiling is the roof.   We just cant risk that as a franchise at this point
