Steve Smith Is ON WFNZ Having A Confessional, Won't Let the Story End

Its hard to retire when you can still do the job (which he obviously can), and when you get let go (how many people has had that happen to?) And you know it and feel you can still perform you want to go out and show them wrong. I can relate to that mentality. Steve has never said it was because of money, and if you made a contract and agreed to it for the 13 years you put in, I'd laugh too if they asked me for a pay cutt

i'm simply commenting on aceboogie pitying a man who could retire at the age of 35 for having to jump on a plane to see his kids.

smitty is begging for pity. it's hilarious a 35 year old millionaire is doing this. Smitty is a smart guy who was very smart with his money so don't get it twisted.

I have never, in my many years of watching football, seen anyone as butthurt about a teams cut more than Aceboogie.

Steve deserved nothing from Rivera, Gettleman, or JR. He did a job, was paid very handsomely, and was shown the door after they decided his age/baggage/output wasn't enough.

If anything, he should send a letter to Hurney and JR every month and thank them for sticking by him.

Steve Smith out scored our entire team last week, and we paid him to do it. You damn right I'm pissed about it. He embarrassed us.

Would you? The guy obviously still wants to be a Panther, but because of one man's selfish and arrogant decision he has to get on a plane to see his family every week.

DG made a business decision. Smitty is butthurt. We had a pushover GM for years, now we have a guy that is trying to cleanup the mess. To steal an analogy, there will be blood and guts everywhere for a few years. But in the end it should be for the better. If not, then blast Nippleshorts all you want.

That sad thing is this would've been his last year and he would've retiree. One  last year giving a half ass effort and collecting a check. Instead of bitching and moaning about being cut he should be happy that being cut gave him the desire to raise his play. To bad that he wouldn't give that same effort for a team that he supposedly love. Like a previous poster said; he is  like the unhappy girlfriend in a relationship yet got pissed off because you decided to dump her. I love Steve but at the same time fug Steve Smith. Grow the fug up and let it go.

Let me join the pity party. I spend days away from home, unexpected, and I have a woman on call to come take the dog out and check on their water. They're on automatic feeders for food. But you don't see me crying I just troll thousands of people...I'm going to call my new bestie Smitty.

We will see, but right now Gettleman looks like a fool.

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
