Steve Smith Is ON WFNZ Having A Confessional, Won't Let the Story End

On the flipside...

Tauren Poole @WhoisTPoole  ·  Sep 29

All business. Nothing personal. Still unproven. Got a lot to prove. That's reality and I face it with my head up. Forever thankful.

That's from a guy who doesn't have millions of dollars in the bank from a long football career.

Tauren Poole got more respect on his way out the door than Steve Smith did. Think about that.

Cam Newton's response (link)

Newton said Wednesday he has no friction with Smith or with Rivera, Gettleman and Panthers owner/founder Jerry Richardson. But in this fight, Newton made it clear his allegiance lies with his coach.

“I’m not about to step into whatever they got going on. I think that’s going to be a distraction for us,” Newton said. “I don’t think coach Rivera is worried about what Steve Smith has to say about him and nor do I think Steve Smith is caring about how coach Rivera is thinking about him.

“Moving forward, I’m sticking by my coach. Do I have a relationship with Steve Smith as far as how we communicate outside of this locker room? Yes. But for us, my main focus is being 3-2 at the end of this week. You’re asking me is coach Rivera a great coach or a players’ coach? Absolutely. He’s an unbelievable coach.”

There's also this, which probably shouldn't come as a shock to anyone.

Gettleman did not respond to a message seeking comment.

Nope never been top 5 at anything but what I have done is spend 27 months in Iraq and Afghanistan and missed birthdays and anniversaries so really. Stop fuging whining.

Rock on! And as a military spouse who's gone thru 4 deployments I find it grating that we should worry about where SS's family lives during football season. I'm sure SS's wife can most certainly endure his time spent in Baltimore, but hell, some parts of that city might be worse than Iraq and A-stan. ;)

Why was this moved to this forum? Why do mods lock threads at the drop of a hat now? Why has this forum become unbearable over the past few months with these asinine moderator decisions? If I call in to Zod's podcast, I'm going to unload on him and the moderators like Smitty unloaded on Gettleman today.

Just leave the threads alone, we can generally police ourselves, don't overthink it.

Bc we can't have 89 threads until he retires. He isn't a Panther presently

Poole had a say in how he went out by the way he acted.

There was no way to part with 89 without him acting like 89

moving on from 89 was the correct decision to make, the execution on that is where everything got screwed up at(sounds like the last 2 sundays). it sounds to me that 89 is just hurt from how all this went down, and not actually being released. I'm not mad at him for dropping these dime,

Smith being Smith, if it didn't happen on his terms, there was zero chance of this being an amicable parting.

Pretty clear from past history that bringing in his replacement wasn't going to sit well.

I don't hear Rivera or Gettleman calling WFNZ on their day off to rant about how Smitty treated them...

Whether or not Rivera/Gettleman handled it the right way, what purpose was served by Smitty calling into a radio show to rant about it, other than to satisfy his own ego?

The only thing Smitty accomplished today was making himself look petty and bitter while simultaneously validating one of the main reasons he was cut.

Unfortunately, the crowd that absolutely *loves* the velvety texture of Smith's scrotum rubbing across their face will, yet again, ignore your sage wisdom.
