Steve Smith Is ON WFNZ Having A Confessional, Won't Let the Story End

I think I heard 89 sniffling in between each word when he was trying to tell his story.

Fact: The idea of being evaluated is what hurt his behind.  He was making snarky comments about that even before he said he met with G-man.

Fact.  He thought himself untouchable..  which is on him,  not on the Panthers.

Fact.  He played like ass last season.   He was slow,  he couldn't jump,  he was being somewhat shut down by most CBs.  1 on 1.

Fact.  It took him being cut,  before he played great on the field again.

Fact.   89 is the past.

Fact.  Benji is the future.

As someone that followed 89 since his college days...     Even I was insulted by his play last season.   He didn't give full effort to what he was doing on the field.  He was coasting by.              It is sad that it took cutting his ass before he found his fire again.  What can ya do though?

I also won't shed a tear when DWill is up for evaluation.   Same thing with Stewart..  and Charles Johnson.    Two  of those players are being paid greatly..and are performing like shat.  Dwill is doing well,  but remains injury prone.

*sigh*

for every steve thread, I should see a hardy one in return. hardy is no steve, but he still is on the team and has been stripped away which is bullshit. after green bay game I should see a thread atleast half this long if he's not on the field getting ready to play that next week

Im sorry but I had to vent that

Sounds like his agent played a part in souring that relationship. "My agent tells me DG said this and that when they met at the combine".

Those kinds of conversations are had between GMs and agents all the time. The GM downplays the value of the player to try to pay as little as possible, the agent upsells.

Also, as others on here have said, when Smitty says "He tells me, basically (interesting word  ;) ) I'm a shadow of the player I used to be. I can't run and jump like I used to." I doubt those exact words were said, especially doubt DG said "You're a shadow of the player you used to be." Gettleman was probably just trying to have a realistic conversation about Smitty and his age and role on the team, and Smitty takes things personally.

And yeah Steve was right to brag. This board talked mad poo about he was old and shitty. Then he looks like 05 Steve on Sunday.

I supported the cut due to cap issues. But all of this "but Steve is angry, and that makes me angry!!" poo is old.

And Steve has been very grateful to the fans and other players. He's just passed at the Panthers FO

Ultimately, I believe it went down pretty much how Smitty said... but, I just don't see how this was beneficial for anyone involved. Like I said, he just postponed his retirement ceremony/induction to the ring of honor by YEARS.

I understanding venting and it being therapeutic, but sometimes you just have to let sleeping dogs lie... even if you were wronged, sometimes (with the long-term in mind) you gotta let it go.

I was thinking the other day he might have talked his way out of a statue entirely. I think it will happen, but not for 10-15 years until after he retires. Might not happen as long as Jerry Richardson is the owner. I know they were supposedly friendly, but is he going to want to celebrate this guy?

I prefer a coach that isn't "boys" with his players. I prefer a, well, a coach.

Agreed.  Same with a GM.

Pretty strong possibility.

It's bullshit that Hardy didn't get to play against Baltimore, because for a guy who keeps harping about being a man and saying something to someone's face, Steve Smith is talking an awful lot of poo about Greg on the fuging radio.

Y'all can love Steve if you want, and that's fine, but that's a little bitch move right there.

My suggestion to Steve Smith is >"Shut the fug up and let it go". Smith has and still is, making millions of dollars but continues to  is whine like a 10 year old because he found out that the Panthers are not all about him,

If he had not been such an asshole to the younger players and tryed to help develop them, instead of been a constant critic, he would probably still be playing for the Panthers instead of playing for the Ravens and telling the world how great that organization is compared to the Panthers. If the Panthers let him sign a one day contract so he can retire here in Carolina, they are beyond crazy.

Steve Smith has gone from being one of the best players Panthers history, to being the biggest whiner and a  all about me player that has ever worn the electric blue uniform of the team.
