Steve Smith Is ON WFNZ Having A Confessional, Won't Let the Story End

I still find it hard to believe that people think Gettleman wouldn't say such things. The dude is about as frank as it comes in pressers and it got him into trouble before.

You just saw how the NFL botched the DV issue, AND you don't think it can get personal, rugged, offensive, or cutthroat behind closed doors? LOL. I've had people act like this in management positions when I was a kid making 15k a year. The stakes only get higher.

It's not that he might have been "mean", it's that the things steve claimed he said were illogical.

Poor lil' ol' Smitty. All the Panthers did was give him over $60 million over 13 years, made him a god in this community.....all while he physically assaulted MULTIPLE teammates, put one in the hospital. Right, keep telling us about how the PANTHERS are the bad guys.

Not to mention the multiple personal foul penalties in games.  I think Steve looked at guys like Sam Mills and wanted that type of treatment.  Like a female that didn't see it coming he still can't believe he was cut out right.  He forgot how Richardson and multiple coaches stood by him while he was a bigger team cancer than T.O.  How immature is it to question the manhood of Rivera and Gettleman because they don't bend to your will.  I wouldn't have called Steve either if I was Rivera.  Why would you call an ex-girlfriend on the way out?  I mean all that is going to happen is she is going to cuss you repeatedly every phone call.

Steve is responding to reports that came out directly before and after the game. It goes both ways.

Gettleman quotes, per the OP...

Said GMan told him, He's a shadow of the player he used to be. He can't run and jump like he used to be. We're going to trade you"

Smitty basically said GMan took him into a corner and scolded him.

"Gettlemen said "I was a distraction".

Do you really believe those things were actually said to him?

Isn't it more likely that this is how an emotional guy like Steve Smith would perceive what was being said to him?

You tricked me into responding!

We were going to try to come to at least two this year, but my wife lost her job, so it's probably going to be just one.

I'm thinking the Birds on Nov. 16 or Bucs on Dec.14th. It's what I have asked for as my birthday present (late Nov.) so grabbing beers will definitely be high on the priority list!

Eagles game is away so don't come to that one. Bucs game is good.

What parts? Only thing I have questions about was the "hit teammates/not wife" bit. That seemed a little jarring and disjointed.

But, from the way he describes it, that's how I have envisioned Gettleman and especially Rivera operate behind closed doors.

Steve can say whatever he wants because he knows damn well Gettleman and Rivera will never go on the air to refute his bullshit.

Little fella needs to let it go. Every time he opens his mouth he just confirms that the decision to let him go was correct.

Steve Smith is like that girl in high school who is always surrounded by drama but tells everyone that will listen how much she hates drama. Steve brought this all on himself, and continues to do so.

yeah, those things.

some truth probably in what he said.  Hard to tell how much though, if he thinks we're actually going to believe that.  It calls his whole opinion on the subject into question.

DG made a business decision. Smitty is butthurt. We had a pushover GM for years, now we have a guy that is trying to cleanup the mess. To steal an analogy, there will be blood and guts everywhere for a few years. But in the end it should be for the better. If not, then blast Nippleshorts all you want.

I've agreed with most of the tough decisions DG has made. But the move with Smitty didn't make sense when it happened and it still doesn't make sense.  I think this is one move that most people several years from now will still point to as a mistake.

I've really come to hate Smith, and while  I don't expect every Panther fan to be the same, you at least need to stop riding his dick so hard.

I've only met him once briefly, but from commentary from others, and the way I've seen him display himself on the field and in interviews, the dude is a piece of selfish POS.  If we were a larger market team, he would have had to the potential to be more notorious then TO/Moss.  Year after year it was always, "Smith has matured" etc etc, but it's obvious he's exactly the same as when he came into the league.

He runs his mouth non stop on the field, yet punches teammates in the face if they say anything to him. I truly believe anything he's said about Gettleman is either a complete lie, or highly exaggerated.  The dude has full out narcissistic and other ego driven issues that are way out of control, probably to the point he can't even see reality correctly.
