Steve Smith Is ON WFNZ Having A Confessional, Won't Let the Story End

Who wants to set the over/under on how many pages this thread goes?

What about one for how many people get banned in the course of it?

Number of times the phrase 'fug (somebody)' is used?

1) 38 unless it gets locked.

2) 2.5 (3 people will get banned but 1 will be by accident and brought back)

3) 38 pages X 11 = 418

Im torn here.

Does smitty need to get over and move on? Absolutley

But at the sametime if this is true gettleman can not let his personal feelings about a player affect how he does his job.

I don't believe he did.

It was a business decision for Gettleman.  The guy who thinks it was personal is a guy who thinks everything is personal.

It is simple. I think Smitty is one of those personalities that can't handle boundaries, criticism or any type of perceived rejection. He gets off on that stuff and that's where he gets his fire. You know those people, you walk on eggshells around them cuz you don't know what might set them off. But you completely overlook their shenanigans as long as they are on your side or they don't fugg with you.

Anyways, we finally got a GM that is willing to put the team first stand up to players' egos and make the tough unpopular decisions. I am not cool with some of DGs moves such as not paying attention to the OL, caving in to the media mob sitting down Hardy and letting Ginn go, but releasing Smitty was ok with me

I really don't understand why we keep talking about Steve Smith and why he keeps crying about this poo. Montana, Manning, James Harrison etc.. were all released. Stay Classy Smitty. He is having a great year and we are struggling right now which you think should satisfy his petty me-against-the-world psyche. Good for him man, whatever gets him going, but I don't know why he is crying about it. Like someone said it's like that crazy ex that can't let go. We have a lot of problems as a team and Steve Smith or the fact that he is not playing for us is not one of them

Look, not to be cliche, but here's the bottom line:

He's upset with the way he was cut

Didn't feel like Ron or Dave reached out to him during the evaluation process

Cam completely blind sided by it, along with us

Fan base was torn between those in favor/those against

He became a Raven

Details emerged

More huddle debate

He shat on our D and FO

Now he's venting. It's somewhat closure for him

(He's salty about KB's relationship with Cam, as referenced by the fact that "he doesn't play video games")

Also alludes to the fact that there can't be a "Superman without Lex Luther" and refers to himself as Lex Luther---this is the most telling! Smitty still wanted to be here!

It's all just sad tbh. He deserved better, he's definitely missed. If you think you don't miss him, I think you're crazy.

Look at how many pages are in each thread that even mentions Smitty. The proof lies in each thread.

Just my .02

You just summed up my exact feelings

Smith is taking this break up hard we might have to get a restraining order.

I also sent Smitty a message on twitter, I told him I'm a huge fan but the way he's acting he will end up like Brett Favre in Green Bay. ..don't end up like Brett Favre in Green Bay

From what I gather, Steve felt compelled to call in and respond based on the belief that Rappaport's report about him asking for a release was leaked by the Panthers.

It may have been, but his rant is based on a HUGE assumption. It's just as likely (if not more likely) that Rappaport made up the story himself citing unnamed sources just to have something to say because he's the "Insider".

I also just heard some post game audio from him talking about "Putting a nail in the Panthers coffin" and "take your ass back to Carolina and mow my lawn". The only thing worse than a sore loser is a sore winner and I'm sorry to say that I'm losing respect for Smitty by the day based on this crap.

Steve says Rivera "hid in his office" when he was released, yet Rivera made a point to walk over the the Ravens locker room after that ass-whipping to congratulate him and express his appreciation.

I will always appreciate what Steve did for Carolina, but it sounds like he needs to ice up his vagina and move on.

Steve Smith out scored our entire team last week, and we paid him to do it. You damn right I'm pissed about it. He embarrassed us.

Then be mad at your QB, your OC, your OL, or your RB's, or your WR's.

You are taking this cut like Steve is.....like a petulant child.

Everyone on this board loved Steve Smith as a Panther.  I've loved Steve.  He's been my favorite Panther.

BUT

He's acting very immature about this.  Yes, our FO could've handled it better but at the end of the day, it's a very difficult thing to cut a franchise cornerstone.  There wasn't really a right way to do it.  He's hurt, I understand it.  I'm sure everyone understands it.   He's a professional and he should be acting like one.  Calling a local radio show to defend yourself from a few tweets is very narcissistic and immature.

He randomly called a local radio show from vacation to vent about rumors he read on social media of his pending release over a month before it happened. It's what he does.
