Steve Smith Is ON WFNZ Having A Confessional, Won't Let the Story End

Like Gross did? Now you're getting it. You'll see Gettleman's destruction soon.

Gman wanting to move on from two players in their twilight years is not destroying the Panthers. Obviously our cap situation has meant he has had to play hardball with a few players. Gross, while admitting he didn't like being asked to take a pay cut took a different route than Smitty did. Smitty obviously took it as an insult or his agent knew he'd get a decent deal in FA.

Smitty could have stayed if he agreed to a paycut like many other Panthers have over the last two years. He chose to move on and make as much money as he could before he was done. I can't fault a man for that, but he and his agent have been very coy about what was or wasn't said. They came out early saying he wasn't asked to restructure in a PR move to make the Panthers look even worse. A restructure would only create even more cap problems in the Panthers future.

What makes it all seem worse is he went to the Ravens. Say what you want about Flacco being overpaid but he throws a nice deep ball. If he was here still under Shula I think we can all agree he wouldn't have half the stats he has today. When was the last time Smitty had 2 TD's and 130 yards for the Panthers? You'd have to go all the way back to Cams first start against Arizona. Last year his role had clearly changed here. Honestly, moving on has been great for Smitty both financially and statistically. His "release" has obviously lit a fire in him that was a little lacking last year. He even looks in better shape.

Yeah ....Steve said although Ron is supposed to be such a players coach he said absolutely nothing to him throughout the process and chose to hide in his office instead.

Pretty strong statement there.

Hard to blame Ron, has to support his boss even if he disagrees.

Gross, per his own words, was asked to stay on for another year when he said he was going to retire.

Who wants to set the over/under on how many pages this thread goes?

What about one for how many people get banned in the course of it?

Number of times the phrase 'fug (somebody)' is used?

o/u 22.5 pages

o/u 1.5 bans (usually come in pairs)

o/u 77.5 'fugs'

This is the last SS thread I'm clicking on. I've read a few posts and I'm done. I advise you all to the same if for no other reason than it's gotten really redundant.

Let the children whine in this thread.

I swear some of you need to be following boy bands or soap operas instead.

Don't bother quoting me for your idiotic retorts. I won't be reading them.

Everyone on this board loved Steve Smith as a Panther.  I've loved Steve.  He's been my favorite Panther.

BUT

He's acting very immature about this.  Yes, our FO could've handled it better but at the end of the day, it's a very difficult thing to cut a franchise cornerstone.  There wasn't really a right way to do it.  He's hurt, I understand it.  I'm sure everyone understands it.   He's a professional and he should be acting like one.  Calling a local radio show to defend yourself from a few tweets is very narcissistic and immature.
