PFT: Bears might rather face Newton

It appears to me Cam is less likely to run in the first half of games saving something for the second half. Both the run game and the pass protection suffers.

The thought is to start DA and keep him in as long as we are winning or the game is close. Have Cam come in at Halftime if necessary and take half the hits. I believe he would be more aggressive with his legs and we would have a fresher Cam when it comes time to win the game. The D would have to honor the option fakes like they tend to do earlier in games before knowing Cams status.

I don't see this team blowing anyone out and this way you have a fresher stud at the end when the game is won or lost. I also question his stamina at this point with all the rehabbing and less conditioning work. Just an unconventional outside the box way of looking at it. It would be risky for the coaching staff from a second guessing standpoint though.

Cam is a rythem player....you can't just insert him into games late and say, "ok, come back and win this one"

Give him enough time to get into a rhythm. I think he feeds off of success. That is the rythum.

This plan would absolutely blow up if we got way behind early. However if we got to halftime with a tie game you essentially shorten the game and cut Cams exposure to hits in half. I think he would play better letting it all hang out rather than saving something for the second half like he is doing now.

I've said before that I like Derek Anderson The Backup, but Derek Anderson The Starter makes me nervous.

That's still true.

maybe if he were a starter for the whole year ,but starting a game or two when the #1 can't is what a backup does.
